Hackney local Charly tells us her experience of putting her 7 month old baby on the toilet regularly, as recommended by @eric_charity to aid constipation, with great results! Give them a follow for great advice on potty training.
Great to hear GPs signposting to such great resources that give impartial evidence based advice. Imagine not having to change poopy nappies cos your baby uses the toilet!? 🙌
Join us this Friday @hackneylibraries Hackney Central to find out all you need to know about reusable nappies. Bring along your baby, your bump and anyone who will be changing nappies! All welcome no need to book. Demo starts at 10!
If someone has given you some nappies and you are a bit stumped bring one along and I will explain all.
You can also claim your free £70 nappy voucher with @hackneycouncil on the day or any time online via @realnappiesforlondon
If you’d like sling help from Mel from 11am you need to book in with her directly @wrapahug_sling_library and please read carefully what help is available at the session!
During Reusable Nappy Week, we had lots of conversations about Elimination Communication (EC) or baby pottying, especially at our RNW celebration with @realnappiesforlondon . Many of the parents we spoke to had been using EC to some extent, with great success! A huge benefit of EC is that children are often out of nappies at a younger age, due to better awareness and communication of needing to go 🚽 Win win for parents and for children 👏

Have you tried EC with your baby yet?
REUSABLE NAPPIES SAVE YOU MONEY! 💷
🤑 Our regular Meet, Give & Take events help you get kitted out completely FREE! Take as many nappies as you need without spending a penny.
🤑 Use your FREE £70 voucher to fill any gaps in your stash- our top tip is to spend your voucher on new birth to potty wraps.
🤑 Buy preloved nappies for the win! Lots of great brands have gone bust and are only available second hand so the variety is great and there are plenty of bargains to be found.
🤑 Every time you use a reusable nappy instead of a single use nappy you have saved some pennies and it all adds up!
It’s Reusable Nappy Week! 🥳 We are here to help parents to use reusable nappies with confidence and ease. Check out our links in bio to book in for our special RNW meet up this Wednesday and to read our latest newsletter.
Thank you to Hackney resident Charly who shared her experience of using reusable nappies with her first child. Top tips to remember:
⭐️ Prepare before baby is born ideally! Come to our nappy demo, and get a load of free nappies at our give & take event so you are ready to roll once baby arrives.
⭐️ Start when you feel ready.
⭐️ Find your own balance. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
⭐️ Washing is easier in the newborn days so don’t be scared to get started!

Sling Clinic + Cloth Nappy Demo April 17th Hackney Central library
Esther and I are looking forward to seeing you at our monthly session!
Here’s the schedule:
CLOTH NAPPY DEMO 10AM
Esther from @hackneynappynetwork will tell you everything you need to know about cloth nappies. All welcome!
The talk will start at 10am and last approx. 40 mins and will cover:
-the different kinds of reusable nappies
-the newborn stage
-washing guidance
-other local nappy initiatives.
-troubleshooting.
SLING CLINIC 11AM
Following that, I will offer a sling clinic whereby you can come for a fit check with your own sling. Here’s how I can help:
– Show you how to do a front, hip or facing out carry (I do not show back carries to beginners unless you have already tried and need a bit of troubleshooting)
– Explain safety and positioning
– Check if your sling fits you and your baby well and suggest adjustments if needed
– Show how to feed in your sling
– Answer your questions or address your worries
You must come with your own for this sling clinic OR if you want to try 1-2 particular slings, we can arrange that but we need to decide on which sling you want to try out before the sling clinic as it’s a short and BUSY session.
If you want to try lots other slings, you will need to book an appt at the Bethnal Green sling library instead.
Fit checks are 10mins per person, no more, so I can help everybody 🙂
You might be grouped up with other people if you all need to same kind of support.
If I can’t improve the fit of your sling or we find that it isn’t safe, I will suggest either booking an appt at the Bethnal Green sling library or hiring one of the sling I bring with me if possible, fees apply.
PLEASE REGISTER by contacting me ahead of the clinic so I know that you are coming and what sling you have/want to try out. The clinic gets very busy so you must register before coming.
The sling clinic is by donation to the sling library via my ‘Buy Me a Coffee’ link to help support the sling library (link in bio or QR code to scan to donate on the day). I am not funded, thank you ❤️
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Love, Mel and Esther the power couple 🥰
We are back at the shiny NEW Hackney Central Library for our monthly reusable nappy demo next Friday, 13th February at 10am 🥳
Find us by the windrush mural which you’ll find if you turn right as you enter the lovely new library, where we’ll have a nice big space for buggies. Bring your bump or your baby, your partner or your parent, to learn all you need to know about reusable nappies.
Claim your free £70 nappy voucher on the day or online via @realnappiesforlondon
Book in with Mel from 11am if you need sling fit checks **please read details on Mel’s post if you want sling help!**
Want to find out more about cloth nappies in person? Our Hackney shop is open Tuesdays 2-5pm. Just turn up.
This doll is the size of a 6 week old baby, around 4 kg (10lbs). It's a perfect time to start using cloth nappies and terry towelling nappies will last you all the way to potty training. Very economical and they may even serve you well for several subsequent babies. Save money, reduce single-use plastics and feel good!
Shop address is 81 Murray Grove, London N1 7QJ. Close to Old Street and Hoxton stations and a short walk from Regent's Canal. Come off tow path at Shepherdess Walk!
