I've learned from organising with the Greens that progress is never handed to us: it's the creation of many people working together for shared values. And last week, after years of work, we made history.
@zoegarbettgreen saw my potential as an organiser back in 2018. It was thanks to her encouragement that I went on to chair the Hackney Greens for 5 years, in which time we won our first councillors. Most recently I've been the Election Agent for Zoë and 49 other candidates. Standing with all these incredible people as they first found out their results (most of them winning!) was a privilege I'll never forget.
To see my friend & mentor become the Mayor of Hackney is a beautiful feeling, if slightly surreal. Now the hard part begins, but I know you'll smash it Zoë 💚

General Federation of Trade Unions led a great session on the capitalism and alternative economy

We heard incredible speeches from @greenpartyzack@zoegarbettgreen@gwen_alice_jones and @garyyounge - and I’m so grateful some of the unions and community organisations which inspired the Manifesto, including @community_food_hub , @saveleamarshes , @unitedvoicesoftheworld and many more were there too! I will do a longer post on the Manifesto itself once we’ve finished bundling our next leaflet… It feels like things are really good on the doorstep but to bring it home on 7 May the next 25 days are going to be huge!!! We’ll be canvassing almost every day of the week and we have at least 21,000 leaflets to deliver, so come get involved! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

Hackney residents want to talk about Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs), so let’s get into it! 🤝
LTNs are one tool that make streets safer and improve air quality, but we know they haven’t delivered fair outcomes everywhere.
The Green Party is hearing Hackney and we have a plan to make LTNs work for everyone.

People often ask how the campaign is going & what it's like running to be the Mayor of Hackney - over the last couple weeks I've been out & about all across the borough with our great Green & HISC candidates, meeting groups, speaking to residents and it brings me so much hope for the possibility of a Green led council in Hackney.
Some recent activities:
- Solve the School Run with Jacob (Stoke Newington candidate)
- With Green & HISC cllrs & candidates on the town hall steps before Full Council
- With Jeremy Corbyn at the Palestine Forum in Britian's Iftar, which I attended with Ifhat (Stoke Newington candidate)
- Doorknocking in London Fields & Dalston
- My Live Facial Recognition report covered in the Hackney Citizen
- At Dalston Superstore, who are backing me for Mayor, with Green pals speaking to people who were there
- Joined a workshop (with Gemma, De Beauvoir candidate) about the needs of East & South East Asian communities in Hackney.

Hackney Council isn’t being honest about the housing crisis. 👀
They say they are delivering 1,000+ new homes, but where are they?? 🧐
Residents are waiting decades for council homes while politicians fund private landlords through housing benefits.
Let’s get the basics right. 💚
