Through the juxtaposition of two ordinary yet highly symbolic elements—birds and machines—Antonsson stages an ambiguous entanglement between victim and perpetrator. The gesture, at once funereal and ritualistic, grotesquely simulates the natural dynamics of flight. The taxidermied animal, activated through a mechanical device, performs a cyclical and suspended motion that disrupts any clear distinction between life and its simulation. What emerges is not simply a parody of vitality, but a disturbing loop in which animation and lifelessness collapse into one another.

Antonsson works at the intersection of organic and technological matter. Her practice explores the cyclical relationship between life and death, where biological fragments and mechanical components merge into bodies in continuous transformation.
In ‘Auto Wing XIX’, car and animal remains converge: wings and feathers rest on a windshield, reanimated by motors that simulate movement. The work stages a mirrored simulation, balancing decay and metamorphosis.

WITH FEATHERS AND FLESH
«The duo exhibition With Feathers and Flesh by Paula Gogola and Hanna Antonsson explores the transformation of organic bodies and the relationship between nature and technology. Antonsson creates kinetic sculptures from seagull wings and car parts that reflect accidental collisions on Gothenburg’s roads. Gogola’s painting practice focuses on transfeminine positions and the construction of identity through bodily modification and queer experience.
Both artists are connected by the symbol of the angel—in Antonsson’s work jiin the form of machine wings, and in Gogola’s as a transhuman figure of resistance, transformation, and healing».

This summer I’ve been following the different stages of the silk moths metamorphosis 🧚♀️
@hanna.norrna and @morus.project kindly lent me 8 silkworms which I’ve cared for and watched transform.
Some of the photos I’ve made will be shown in my solo exhibition Transformers at @konstkollektivet opening this Saturday 23 August. @ljungtunes will be playing the music made to my previous exhibition at @wandagallery_warsaw 🐦🔥
