I felt I had to share it! This melody defined my medical school years and continues to add more meaning as I change. No matter where it is played, it brings people together! For me it floods back the blur of late-night study sessions, the adrenaline of being out, lifelong friendships, loss and grief. It’s incredible how four minutes of music can bridge the gap between the student I was then and the person I am now. I'm still processing last night at The Hub at St Mary’s Songwriter Showcase, but one name is stuck on loop: Rory Black 🎸✨ @roryblackmusic won the @guyachambers songwriting prize for "Know My Name" just a few weeks ago, but honestly, another of his originals "Honey, I’ll Fall" is even better, in my book! 🤯 ​I don’t say this lightly... I was genuinely blown away. This 17-year-old stepped onto that acoustic lounge stage and commanded the entire room. I lost count of how many times I had actual goosebumps. ​He performed: - 4 incredible originals (which I’ve definitely not already played on repeat 50 times today) - A stunning Beach Boys cover - An epic group finale with the three other brilliant acts from the showcase. ​It’s rare to see talent this raw, effortless and refined at such a young age. To say he’s "one to watch" feels like an understatement... somebody needs to sign this kid immediately! ✍️🎤 ​Help a legend out! 🚀 ​We're on a mission to get Rory the recognition he deserves.
