This growing sonic collective is rooted in rhythms and revelations, featuring an ensemble of artists, ceremonialists, griots, musicians, and poets. Listen to this month’s broadcast where we’re joined by GODS GHETTO GUIDE artists Guiiided, TILLA, and Wadood for a conversation and live performance exploring improvisation, the transformative power of sound, and what’s next for this sonic collective.
Join us this Saturday from 1-4pm for a special edition of our screen printing workshop featuring a teach-in on People’s Propaganda by Marvin James (@guiiided ) as we begin a series of printmaking workshops at Legacy Library / Black Lantern Books in Inglewood.
This teach-in will explore a brief history of propaganda focused on its origins during the Great Depression, drawing parallels between government and corporate propaganda, and reviewing necessary examples of people-powered counter-propaganda that aim to restore our sense of self.
After the teach-in guests are invited to practice screen-printing propaganda of their own. Bring your own cotton garments and print your own material artifacts with support from ITS-IN-SCOPE founding archive caretaker, Marvin James.
This month’s featured screens are Checkmate and Harriet’s Black Lantern – the featured designs alongside a dozen others are available for $10/print in black ink. This is a post-perfect, self-determined screen-printing workshop for the folks, brought to you by The People’s Propaganda Printmaking Studio c/o ITS-IN-SCOPE.
