We’re energised to be at #ATS2026 and inspired to push further in our mission to redefine respiratory care for better patient outcomes. Patients with #asthma and #COPD deserve more than symptom relief. They deserve treatments that protect against exacerbations and prevent lung damage. This week is dedicated to improving outcomes for the millions of people living with chronic respiratory conditions, alongside the healthcare professionals and researchers who make that possible.

A COPD exacerbation, or attack, is more than a bad cough or a few rough days. It's a sudden, serious worsening of symptoms that can cause permanent lung damage and could lead to hospitalisation. This can make everyday tasks like climbing stairs, walking the dog, or carrying groceries harder over time. But attacks may be preventable. Proactively talking to your healthcare provider about optimising your treatment and other lifestyle changes are some of the most important steps you can take to protect your lungs.

At #ATS2026, we're sharing findings from 33 research projects across our portfolio of inhaled therapies and biologics – reflecting our ambitious treatment goals, moving beyond symptom control to transform outcomes for people living with chronic respiratory diseases like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Our innovation is driving new treatment approaches including long-acting therapies, which aim to redefine care and alleviate the significant burden on patients and health systems worldwide. We believe advancing research is one of the most meaningful investments we can make for a healthier future.

Did you know that asthma can increase your risk of certain viral infections or make other viruses more severe? Following World Asthma Day, we’re highlighting a lesser-known risk that adults living with asthma may face – Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). RSV is a common respiratory virus, but for adults with asthma, the consequences can be more serious compared to adults without asthma. RSV may worsen asthma symptoms, trigger asthma attacks, and sometimes lead to hospital care. Understanding your risk is an important first step. If you’re living with asthma, or supporting someone who is, speak to a healthcare professional about the risks of RSV and steps you can take to reduce potential consequences of infection. #RespiratoryHealth

On World Asthma Day, we're inspired by stories like Michael's. Growing up, Michael faced the daily challenge of asthma, feeling like he couldn't always keep up. Today, thanks to advances in treatment, Michael has participated in marathons and found new freedom to embrace life’s most precious, everyday moments. At GSK, we're dedicated to pioneering research and developing innovative solutions so that more people living with asthma can breathe easier and live their lives to the fullest. #WorldAsthmaDay

By prioritising prevention across the course of life, we can focus on keeping people healthy before they get sick. Vaccines are one of the world’s most effective health innovations, saving 150 million lives over the past five decades. Together, we have the opportunity to transform how our communities get ahead of disease through prevention and early intervention. Join us this #WorldImmunisationWeek as we work to foster an environment that protects healthy longevity and adult immunisation exists as standard of care.

Meet 14-year-old Fati, he lives with his family in a small house in a remote part of the Oromia region of Ethiopia. During a measles outbreak three years ago, his younger brother, Mohamed, sadly died. With no health centre in their village, the family rely on outreach teams for essential healthcare, including lifesaving vaccinations. Mohamed missed one of the team’s visits when a severe drought had forced the family to travel further and more frequently than usual in search of water. His death had a huge impact on the family, and since that day, Fati has made sure all his siblings get their vaccines. At a recent outreach healthcare session organised by Save the Children and GSK, Fati's baby brother, Khalif, received his first round of vaccinations. Last year, our partnership with GSK in Ethiopia helped to reach over 120,000 children like Khalif with immunisations, ensuring none of these children suffer from preventable diseases. "I make Khalif laugh and play with him. When I play and laugh with my siblings, I’m truly happy."
