Exploring our relationship with both land reclamation and land itself. Book tickets separately for film, workshop & live music - now also w/ @rose_dagul 🌹 Ticket link in @lastlyatnight bio 🦊12pm - 1:15pm Film🌱 Low Rent | Dir. Cloudberry MacLean | 1hr 15mins | Scotland | 2024 Low Rent spans the year I spent secretly living in a hut I built on my allotment in Edinburgh back in 2005. It follows the full cycle of the seasons and captures moments such as early dawn from the hut doorway, a fox running with a scavenged egg in her mouth and trees bending with fruit. In its course I explore questions that continue to preoccupy me about land ownership in Scotland, class, poverty, colonialism and how the violence of capitalism and the joy of life meet in our bodies. With a unique score created by Jer Reid drawing from live improvisation by Jer Reid (guitar) & @UnaMacglone (double bass). Content note: references to colonialism and chattel slavery. 🍎2pm - 5pm Workshop❤️ Land back now! ...but how? Many of us know the current set up isn't fair with 432 owners holding 50% of Scottish land and an area half the size of Wales given over to private bloodsports, in the form of grouse moors. This workshop encourages us to explore our relationship with both land reclamation and land itself. It aims to be a place of learning that is equally as fruitful for those of us who are new to land reclamation and people who have given land struggles plenty of thought. It will: • Share strands of relevant history as well as concrete examples of successful land reclamation. • Aspire to integrate a focus on our current situation in Scotland with a commitment to decolonisation* and reparations from the global north to the global south. *A process of acknowledging and actively striving to undo the suffering and damage caused by past and current processes of colonisation. 🎶💫7:30pm - 11pm Live Music🦇🎶 Lainey Dempsey, @harrygorskibrown Gorski-Brown, Claquer - @lisafannen & @gruffwit - w/ @rose_dagul

Bravest Boat, Mono, Glasgow 2013 © Greg Neate neate photo that was a highlight from my time in Glasgow. A framed print of this was in my photography exhibitions, We All Look Good in Black & White, and remains on display at home. I used to refer to this group by the musician’s names (l-r); Jer Reid, Rafe Fitzpatrick, Georgie McGeowan & Stevie Jones but a post on Jer Reid’s website confirms this was Bravest Boat. Photo shared with @gruffwit , who - after the gig @monoglasgow - said that he sensed that I was calmly close by with camera. #bravestboat #jerreid #momoglasgow #gruffwit #wealllookgoodinblackandwhite

As we settle in for the winter am cooking up something for the other side of it - early doors of spring with @lisafannen and @gruffwit It's a day into evening event (join when u can) w/ tickets coming January. 🧩SUNDAY 8 FEBRUARY 🌱 Day - a screening of Low Rent & connected workshop. Night - music, movement and words that resonate out of the land. 🦜1pm Low Rent | Dir. With a unique score created by Jer Reid drawing from live improvisation by Jer Reid (guitar) & Una MacGlone (double bass). 🦠3pm - workshop connected to Low Rent that further explores our relationships to land. (more info to come) 🍏7:30pm - 🍎Claquer is a duo of Jer Reid & Lisa Fannen, doing guitar, loops, sound layers, spoken word, sometimes movement. “guitar spoken words yesterday at Occii was brilliant: crystal clear language, both in voice and music, politically involved and humanly resonant. Touched.” (Isabelle Vigier) 🔥Lainey Dempsey - Lainey is a singer and songwriter from Glasgow . She has a long held interest in unaccompanied traditional singing and over the past few years has been invited to sing across Ireland, Scotland and the rest of the UK. Her first album 'Letle Telt' was self-released in May 2023 & is in the most part a collection of stories. Many historical, some mythical, almost all have a strong female voice either in the writing or the telling. Many of the songs were recorded around a campfire in the Highlands of Scotland. Half were found in antique song books and are rarely sung today if at all. The other half are new compositions and have been inspired by tales of Scottish history & lore.
