Blazing Swan 2026 as Decor Lead blew my mind this year. Was given some well earned Orb fundraiser $$ to finally spend and bring a few crew members as well as my own dreams alive. We had such an epic team this year with skills that helped get our dome well hung, lit up and pumping, with creative pieces we were able to pack down and can use again for next year. I didn’t get a lot of photos.
Had a rocky start with news my Dad had a stroke and was in the ICU, unsure how the hell I was going to get back to Perth with a truck so packed to the brim that Lewis had unpacked and re- packed more than twice already - but knowing the HoO crew could drive the ship nonetheless and having the support of everyone around me gave me hope all would be well… which it was. Dad’s ok now but also gotta thank him for giving me his weird artistic streak that has allowed to me make things pretty throughout my life.
This year’s energy at blaze had its ups and downs for everyone. But it’s meant to be like that, even when it’s too much. I was able to reconnect with a friend, play my first DJ set I had worked so hard at and then play a few more silly ones impromptu, I think I made 18 people cry putting Toasters collar in the prettiest female led temple I have seen out there. Missing her cuddles coming home.
Thanks to Joel and Liz for acting out my stupid Morph Suit yoga idea - they actually nailed it and 3 people told me during it was the best thing they have ever seen at blaze. I felt so silly even doing it and had regrets, but something to work on for next year.
There’s so much more to debrief on. I thought this would be my last year with Orb- but I reckon I have one more left in the bank and then it’s crochet green house with my love. 🌱 🌱
As Toaster’s life slowly winds down and the time draws near, I’ve been thinking about the life she’s shared with me. Eight houses. Six real loves. The heartbreaks she quietly watched me weather. Five career changes and two degrees. My 21st, her 21st. She’s been a step-sister to Singlet and Digit, a gentle nemesis to Kitty (rest their souls), and a grandma to two puppies.
Toaster loved chicken bones, head-butts, fresh bed sheets, warm sunspots, and meal time more than anything.
For twenty-one years, she has been my quiet constant, pretty green eyed cat loving me softly through every chapter. 🩷🩷
I’m soaking up every moment with her, what a gift she’s been.
“Gotta treat the ole gnocchi with respect”! And that’s what my fabulous crabby friend family did this weekend with an impromptu surprise holiday in Dawesville. All my favourite crabs rocked up at individual hours to celebrate a little piece of me and bring some lovin to the table in their own crabby way. Home grown tomatoes, tomahawks steaks, hand made potato gnocchi, mango daiquiris, star gazing, shed party 2.0 in a cellar + a whole lot of vinyl!. Thankyou! What is that star ? Is it Jupiter ? Turns out it was the “Blaze Star”. The white dwarf slowly pulls material from its red giant companion, causing a build-up of hydrogen on its surface. This build-up eventually reaches a critical point and triggers a thermonuclear explosion, resulting in the nova event. 💫 🌟
What a week! Blazing Swan 2025 has made me realise I have shifted my triggers after an exhausting chaos.!
House of Orb nailed it this year! I’ve left so much lighter, my heart is full and I know how to use it again. ❤️💫😎🔥🌵
40 laps around the ☀️! Absolutely blessed to have these new and olds friends in my life and appreciate every one of you for making an effort to road trip to Karijini and back. You all spoilt the shit out of me and I had one of the best times of my life which I’ll always remember. Every single one of you brought something to the table and a whole lot of laughs!! To Kayleigh for putting the idea in my head to begin with and a huge Happy Birthday to you too gal, you are truly an incredible human with a whole lot of positive energy. 🥂
