Bbq season is back, baby! Nothing beats hitting up the local butcher shop and greengrocers and getting a good cook on in the garden. The rum just added just made it all even better. (Although the whopping great burn on my forearm is a stark reminder that I should not be allowed near fire!)
What an incredible experience. Midsummer House is one of those restaurants I’ve wanted to visit for years but never found a good enough excuse. Tonight that al changed. And it was worth the wait. From the welcome at the entrance to all the truly wonderful food right up to our little goodie bag as we left, everything second here felt special. Impeccable service from start to finish, and ludicrous flavours in every bite.

Treated myself to a cheeky little solo man-date today as the sun was shining and I was left to my own devices for the day.
My joyful but brief walk took me to @theyard_ely for their spicy salami pizza. Being brutally honest, they’re pizzas didn’t used to do it for me as the dough never left quite right, but I’m glad to say they’ve improved massively over the last few months and this was a delight. It was the kind of pizza that made me want to get back in the kitchen. Added bonus with going alone meant I still had half a pizza left to take home for later! Happy days. 🍕 🥤 ☀️
Ending the month with a delicious ribeye Caesar salad. Food has been the last thing on my mind these past few weeks while we’ve been working so hard to get the new business up and running. But, now it is, hopefully I can back in to the kitchen and back out to some lovely places to eat.
I found a beautiful tin of Italian plum tomatoes from @casamarrazzo1934 that I wanted to use as a plant pot for @elyworkcollective - so obviously I had to batch cook a delicious ragù with pappardelle so the wonderful contents didn’t go to waste…
2 thirds beef, 1 third pork, a healthy glug of red wine, soffritto, and of course 2.5kgs of Italy’s finest Neapolitan tomatoes. Superb.
Fabulous food in a beautiful setting. I can’t believe it’s taken us this long to experience @hidden_by_puddini - If you’re local and want something unique in an intimate setting, then you really need to try and get a seat at one of these wonderful events.
We’re in Switzerland. And this is where all the delicious Lindt chocolate is mate.
And yes, I left with my pockets full of chocolate balls.

Devon crab and sweetcorn bites followed by rope-grown mussels marinière. A wonderful lunch at @theboothiston - a pub I haven’t visited for 20 years. It’s very different now (and all for the better)
