A backpack sprayer is a great tool for terminating past crops or weeds in hidey hole food plots. Mix 98% water with 2% glyphosate. If there is too much leaf litter or duff on the ground that seed will not make soil contact, you can use prescribed fire after terminated vegetation has dried.

It’s called planting green! We drill our summer crop into a green/living fall crop. Once the warm season crop has germinated and is a few inches tall, we will terminate the standing fall crop with a crimper. No herbicide needed! The results are fewer passes, healthier soil, no erosion, and never removing all the food from critters.
