A collection of instrumentals derived from the sounds of UK street soul circa 1984-1994.
This has been a long time bucket list to do, and probably is just scratching surface....
Unlike its US counter part and musical older sibling , UK street soul was a little more raw, more sultry, slightly macabre and dare i say it a bit funkier???
With Loose Ends, Omar, Soul II Soul leading the charge, lesser known but equally important groups like i-level, 5th of Heaven, En - To - End to name a few made a savage impact on the scene and its adjacent sub genres.
A product of loosely wired sound systems, love letters, weekend shirts, panda pop and dunkable biscuits.
Named after the short lived TV show â No Problemâcreated by the Black Theatre Co-operatives and featuring the illustrious cast of Victor Romero Evans, Shope Shodeinde, Chris Tummings, Judith Jacob and the phenomenal Janet Kay.
In this weird and saddening wave of fascism we are seeing across the country atm heres to celebrating a part of Britain you can be proud of.
