@t3al_4real brings their lush, downtempo trip hop to Salt Spring for the very first time on Saturday August 30th! The family-based trio features local legend Ashleigh Ball, delivering euphoric textures and hypnotic grooves. In its continued endeavour to connect nature and technology, Groundwaves is excited to welcome Teal to @saltypear.ca . Teal is a newly formed trio blending dub, neo-soul, ambient, and downtempo influences. The group is made up of family members Ashleigh Ball (Hey Ocean – Victoria, BC), Melissa Ball (Y’KNOW & UH HUH – Toronto, ON), and N1_SOUND (Spiritual World, Y’KNOW & UH HUH). Hey folks, the response to this show has been bigger than we anticipated and tickets are almost sold out. At this point we have no way of guaranteeing there will be any available for purchase at the door, so if you're planning on attending but haven't got a ticket yet, please click on the link in our bio and grab one before they're gone. Sean has been doing this a long time and really brings the goods, so we're psyched to have him joining us for the big day. I can't think of an artist more suited to playing under the shade of a maple tree on Saltspring Island in the summertime than @alexandreklinke . His mix of electronic and acoustic instrumentation is both adventurous and deeply relaxing. If you'd like a taste, I'd highly recommend checking out his album 'Body of Water' from 2024 (on Hotham Sound's Bandcamp), in particular the track 'South Beach.' It doesn't get any more west coast than this. Tickets for this event are going fast, so if you'd like to join us, click on the Eventbrite link in our bio. Also, heads up to any Vancouverites walking on the ferry, I will be doing shuttle runs with my vehicle from the Long Harbour terminal into downtown Ganges throughout the day of the event (venue is just a short walk from downtown). How often do we dedicate time to listen to an album from front to back without any distraction or interruption? It’s not as often as we wish. As part of @a.friendly.wave ’s objective to foster connections through music, we have been offering Deep Listenjng Sessions at @cassettecafebar on Salt Spring Island. This Sunday June 1st from 3:00 - 5:00 PM, I’ll be presenting two album behemoths “Aja” by Steely Dan and “Talking Book” by Stevie Wonder. These recordings are celebrated for their high level of production, and we felt that actively listening to them on a Hifi system will enhance the quality of the recordings even further. There are plenty of amazing presenters and DJs this weekend at AFW Week 2. @pacific___coliseum is the balearic-focused DJ alias of Jamison Isaak, better known as Teen Daze. The Juno Award-winning electronic artist from British Columbia Teen Daze - launched this project to explore the sun-soaked sounds of the Balearic scene. Fresh off the release of his acclaimed “Voice Wave” album in March 2025, featuring collaborations with balearic legend Ruf Dug and Italian party starters Eternal Love, Pacific Coliseum brings deep house grooves and Mediterranean vibes to A Friendly Wave’s Dark Mode sessions. Influenced by his love of all things Balearic, his sets embody the album’s central philosophy: “Let go of what you’re feeling” – perfect for the listening space’s immersive evening experience.
