Familiarize yourself with the Beistle aesthetic in this fine new Works of Love publication from @i_rebuff_a_wealthy_widow
Just a ton of material in this beast. New comics from me, @audra.stang@john_sammis and more.
I had such a blast with the last Halloween zine from Luke. This is a grand and joyous occasion π
Cashiers Du Cinema! Have your cake and eat it! You can really seethe and thrash around in lowlife, low wage misanthropy and then enjoy some really gorgeous, life affirming material before you make it to the back cover. Read the exploits of the most skilled, thoughtful, friendly, G-Rated, nice man wish he was my dad, projectionist back to back with NYC cinephile to the bone types boasting to the amazement of others that they had a steady union gig at porno theaters Back In The Day. Every issue is a grand occasion for me, but reading this one from beginning to end on a recent vacation was a true delight. On top of the scholarly work, there are a dozen or more cartoonists bringing their finest to this issue. The bang for your buck in this series is unmatched in comics, zines, movies, anything? . . . Anyhow! @fathers_puka_shells.exe has done it again. Dan makes a caricature of himself (lazy, hapless slob) in his comics that is amusingly difficult to reconcile with the immense talent and virtuoso editor I see behind this series. Well done to everyone! π
Longboxes - I drew this one for @athenaeumcomicart (who I'm sure has made way more of a science out of cardboard craft than I have). Sean is a downright saint. So is @illustratornate for letting me pick over his trash ππ
One more look at the Spider-Man bootleg I did with Colin Sims (Colin - plot and pencils. All I did was ink it and print it π)
I'm all out, but @a_kiwi_in_kiwi_clothing still has a stack of them.
Man I had such a nice time drawing a story for the first issue of @hotcommodeity - Check this thing out so you can satisfy all of your Hot Commodeity related curiosity (WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS THING??).
My siblings and in laws are probably still pretty confused from our time together during the holidays where in I told them a nice man was paying me a respectable page rate to draw his extremely thorough script about how to poop properly in the outdoors.
@connormakescomics is one of the absolute best doing it at this moment.
Demon Summoner Gash Gash from @strangers_publishing was one of my favorite reads in ages. The guy can do it all. Every panel is gorgeous. The work with text puts any art school dork who ever claimed to be interested in typography to shame. The man can WRITE. Fun, funny, breakneck but immediate and lucid, exciting and viscerally gripping. I really have to emphasize funny. Incessant biting social critique in a hyper violent alloy of genres that is actually worthwhile, shockingly incisive and *funny* sounds like a bridge too far, but Connor makes it look easy. Salute to a real king.
Demon Summoner Gash Gash rocks π
