I’ll be rooting for these 3 incredible athletes today!! I was lucky to spend a little time with them in Latvia late last year for @theststyle . Such an achievement to have 3 team GB finalists in the women’s skeleton 🇬🇧 Just glad it’s not me going 90mph head first down a track made of ice!

Martin Cade at the top of the Old Lower Lighthouse thats home to the Portland Bird Observatory. He’s been warden here for over 35 years. Bird observatory’s monitor migration and populations through long-term recording and ringing, and they provide vital data on how birds are responding to environmental change. On a good day Martin and his team can ring up to 600 birds! Part of my ongoing project exploring lives quietly devoted to birds in the UK.

Details from a wild goose chase to Istanbul looking for Matern’s mythical old flatmate who disappeared. My final story for @vice_de before it evaporated last year. Grateful to get to work together one last time with my old muckers @m_boeselager @fraufau @malibu__stacy @geyergeyer ❤️‍🔥

A male black grouse (blackcock) performs some of his finest dance moves to impress the females during the lek. If successful he’ll get to mate with a few lucky ladies (Greyhens), if not, it’s a long old wait til next spring. Black grouse used to be found in every county in the UK, now they’re on the red list and one of the fastest declining birds we have. Ironically their strongholds are moorlands managed for red grouse shooting where predators are kept in check.

The hands of someone who’s spent a lifetime farming. Nicholas Watts transformed his farm in Lincolnshire to work with nature, not against it. He’s now the largest domestic supplier of bird seed in the country, selling over 2500 tons of the stuff every year. Last year he was crowned Arable Farmer of the Year at the British Farming Awards 👑 Photographed as part of my ongoing project exploring lives quietly devoted to birds in the UK.
