It is so special to walk with cheetah at @samarakaroo . Profoundly changed by the privilege to capture a moment in time with these beautiful yet vulnerable big cats. Sadly, there are less than 8,000 mature adult wild cheetah left in the world. Took these photos as they basked in the sunlight.

During Greisy’s time with us, she has discovered not only the rhythms of the wild but also a deepening love for photography, with Samara’s plains and mountains as the perfect canvas.
Having first joined us last year and now spending another season here, Greisy’s journey is a beautiful reminder of the connections the Karoo inspires — between people, nature, and the stories waiting to be told.

When I left @samarakaroo last year, I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to come back. As a New Yorker, opportunities to engage with nature as a kid were slim. I wish I could tell my younger self, cooped up devouring books about magic in damp Queens basements, that one day the universe would work its own magic to bring her to the other side of the world, to the open plains and mountains of the Karoo in South Africa.
