We prepped a few interesting vocal mashups for Kel to sing on this set. We love to reach back into the tunes that shaped us, so walking in for soundcheck & seeing two HUGE stacks of primo speakers instantly got us excited @chiwowwah_town The tech crew was amazing and some of the looks we got during rehearsal let us know we were onto something. One last quick run through for timings and placement and we were ready to roll. The music that night was ethereal, both @monsieurdiop_monsieurdiop with the @big_voice_choirs and @uone_music sets were breath taking. Uone’s closing version of The End set us up perfectly for Kel’s “bible” reading of Jim Morrison's ‘An American Pray’ As we played the opening track, the tension in the room was palpable and when that first kick dropped PHOAR did we feel that crowd ! What followed was one of the most magical sets we’ve ever played. Massive shout out to Uone, Gyom, Taz, all the crew plus the staff @artsfactory_gardenbar @lazer_malibuuu you're a legend mate, love the footage you have captured so beautifully of the night & most importantly, we wanna thank all the people who showered us with Enthusiasm and Love. Seeing @uone_music name pop up in our DM’s always makes us frisky. We've been playing @chiwowwah_town for around 13 years now collectively and they are arguably the best bill to get on in the country. Separated by 455kms of the Bruce Highway makes our collaboration a bit tougher but as they say, diamonds are formed under pressure. Greg’s laptop shitting itself didn’t help but it made us dive harder into the most important part, Music selection. We always try to find a blend of new and old favourites, with a couple of curveballs you probably never heard before. With Kel’s vocals, we dig deep into our vaults and try and find songs that have moved us, made us look at life differently, made us cry, made us love. So after weeks of deep crate diving, Greg made his way to Byron on the Thursday night before the gig. Kel had been frantically recording and mastering the back up vocals for the tracks we selected, but we still had no idea what we were gonna play out & in what order. A couple of lates nights in the studio and it was all starting to come together. Celebrating 60 years of The Doors, this world-first deep house tribute transforms the legendary music, poetry, and spirit of Jim Morrison into a two-hour immersive audio-visual experience. Featuring custom remixes, rare edits, and iconic tracks including Riders on the Storm, L.A. Woman, Light My Fire, Break On Through and Roadhouse Blues, Uone reimagines the catalogue through hypnotic grooves, psychedelic textures, and driving dancefloor energy.
