Devotion is the key to what I do — and sometimes, it’s also the sickness. Recently, after advocating with so much excitement for a new artist I booked for two of my events, I found myself feeling demonised by her for simple mistakes I made. Yes, I can be chaotic. Yes, I can be messy. But I always own them. I always apologize. I leave these interactions with her questioning myself. My motivations, my values, my fights, my ambitions… I see life as a puzzle of opportunities. A dance between space, time, people, and talent. When the pieces align just right — the alchemy happens. That’s when memories are made. And for that magic, I give everything and relentlessly put myself and my family last. I m passionately driven, I despite greed over the visions I serve, I don’t cut corners. How many times have I come home losing money to serve a vision that I thrive for thinking how crazy I must be to give so much to the unknown, giving away time and money from my home and family. How come one artist that I highly respected and was excited to put under the spotlight can make me feel so wrong for what I do? Making me feel my relentless devotion is a selfish abuse of others? Without promoters like me, taking risks, an artist as so little chances to survive. This recent experience made me question myself inward, time for a check in: Have I lost my passion? Am I becoming careless? No. I’m not guilty of not caring — I’m guilty of caring too much. Guilty of being overly excited, of trying to do too much, of seeing endless potential in everything and everyone. It’s not neglect, it’s overwhelm. So I’m taking a moment to pause. To revisit my mission, my goals, my values. To ask myself — do I still got it? And does it still resonate with who I am today? Time for a holiday my friends. From yours Dearly, Monsieur Diop

What an experience on Saturday, closing my set alongside the Big Voice Choir ✨ We brought a wave of human energy to the dance floor, some raw and powerful shivers ⚡️🔥 Bare Foot Beat always up to create the unexpected moment, … and, it landed right where it needed to 🎶 This was a wild experiment 🌀 We learned a lot through the process, and we’re only just getting started. On Saturday, I had the pleasure of opening BareFootBeat, something I had not done in a long time. Opening sets are often overlooked. So I chose to go deep and highly intentional. I built it slow, deep grooves, low tempo. Creating tensions, expectations, snippets of a party condensed in 8 bars loop. We all knew it was going to lift. You could feel it. But it never did. Dipping in, pulling back. Holding it. Stretching it. Letting people wait… for over two hours. The bravest dancers felt it straight away. They gathered in front of the speakers. And Bit by bit, Step by step, Bar after bar, the floor came alive. Nothing was forced. Nothing was rushed. Just that floating tension. Somewhere in between. Space is everything. It’s where the kings step forward, and others safe to follow. Big love to my early dancers.
