In early December 2025 I installed two sculptures at Sloan’s Lake Playground in Denver. “Community” combines imagery of Sloan’s Lake wildlife, human presence both past and current, and words from local residents into an artwork that celebrates the unifying power of community. The steel structure, made of weathering steel, takes the form of the letter “C,” representing the word “community.” It is adorned with abstract ceramic leaf forms, reflecting the plant life of the lake shore. “Mother Earth” honors the natural world which is the cradle of everything human. Cycles found in all life are hinted at in the artwork: day and night, nocturnal creatures and daylight dwellers, predator and prey, and a playful spinning element. The shape of the steel hints at the profile of a prehistoric fertility goddess as the Earth is the mother of us all. This project was commissioned by Denver Arts & Venues (@denverarts and @denverpublicart ). Big thanks to @petewysong for help with the installation. #publicart #publicartdenver #artforall #motherearth #community

Commissioned by the Town of Erie Public Art Program and installed in fall of 2025, Canary Loop consists of six 5’ tall canary-shaped sculptures located a third of a mile apart along the trail that encircles old town. Each sculpture features two glazed ceramic relief panels, one side an abstract design and the other a more literal design that reflects the human presence in Erie and the natural life that surrounds the town. The canary shape of the pieces honors the little birds that signaled the presence of unsafe gasses in the coal mines from Erie’s early days. #publicart #publicsculpture #steelandceramic #wildlifeart #historyart #eriecolorado #eriecoloradopublicart #canary #canaryloop #canarylooptrail #artforthecommunity #ceramicsculpture #steelsculpture

“Spirits of the Wild”, commissioned by the City of Louisville, Colorado, was installed in December 2025 at the South Street Underpass at the north end of downtown. Standing over 10 feet tall, the sculpture represents 11 species of wildlife that inhabit the Front Range of Colorado: Coyote, Northern Leopard Frog, Big Horn Sheep, Black Bear, Desert Cottontail Rabbit, Great Horned Owl, Mountain Lion, Elk, Swallowtail Butterfly, Red-tailed Hawk, and Black-tailed Prairie Dog. #publicart #frontrangewildlife #louisvillecolorado #steelsculpture #ceramicart #louisvillecoloradoart #coloradopublicart #coloradowildlife #wildlifeart

Commissioned by the City of Fort Collins Art in Public Places program @focoart , "Nature's Helpers" consists of two 8' tall pillars and three 4' tall sculptures. Made of weathering steel and ceramic, the two pillar sculptures feature ceramic designs representing closeup views of native plants, birds, and reptiles. The three smaller sculptures represent native species that play a role in pollinating our flowers and trees. The project is located in the brand new Tailwinds Park in southeast Ft Collins, Colorado just north of Bacon Elementary School. #publicart #ftcollinspublicart #ftcollinscolorado #fortcollinscolorado #artinpublicplaces #pollinators #wildlifeart #nativespecies #frontrangewildlife

Glazed panels ready for firing at over 2100 degrees. These will end up in two steel pillar sculptures for Schoolside Park in Ft Collins, Colorado next month. All the imagery is closeup views of butterfly wings, reptile skin, and bird feathers from local wildlife. The fired glaze colors are often very different from the unfired colors seen here. #ceramicsculpture #publicart #readyforthekiln
