Come to The Opening Reception for “The Bright Side” at the Lincoln Center Art Gallery TONIGHT! 5:30 to 7pm. Meet the artists for this new exhibit that celebrates the power of bright color and uplifting energy through a dynamic mix of artistic styles. Featuring floral paintings by Annie O’Brien Gonzales @annieobriengonzales , a picture worthy interactive installation by Laura Merage @laura_merage , abstract works by Tricia Soderberg @triciasoderbergart , and a selection of portraits by Randy Steinke @steinke_randy ; the collection invites viewers to experience art in a way that is emotionally uplifting. The Bright Side will only be on display through June 12. Don’t miss your chance to experience this awesome exhibit. This week’s Art in Public Places Spotlight is Up•cy•clone by Tim Upham with help from artists Andrew Bohn, Todd Kundla, and Rick Upham (2016). This sculpture is made of recycled bike frames supplied by local businesses. It is located in the roundabout at the intersection of Vine Dr. and Shields St. The sculpture creates a whirlwind of color and triangular shapes that is mirrored in the landscape design of the roundabout. #focoart #publicart #focoartist

Artists, apply now for the Artist Opportunity Grant through the Arts & Culture Department! This grant provides unrestricted funds for active individual artists living in or around Fort Collins. Funds can be used for rent, groceries, bills, supplies, or other day-to-day expenses, creating more space for artists to focus on their work and creative opportunities. This week’s Art in Public Places Spotlight is A Hero’s Welcome by Mario Miguel Echevarria @io_mario_io (2007). A Hero’s Welcome, located on the trail west of the South Transit Center, is a procession of three sculptures that offer a warm neighborhood welcome to trail users. Colorful figures, ornamented in mosaic tiles, lean out of three-dimensional metal windows to wave and offer flowers to the passersby. The sculpture support columns are covered with ceramic tiles created by students from Beattie and Lopez Elementary schools. #focoart #publicart

This week’s Art in Public Places Spotlight is Sunset Cloudscape by Chelsea Ermer (2024). Local artist Chelsea Ermer @chelseaermer_art created this mural for the all-gender restroom in the Center for Creativity, 200 Mathews St. The purpose of the mural is to add an element of surprise and whimsy to the space. With the additions of colorful clouds and soothing sunset gradients, Ermer’s wish is that you are transported to a peaceful place as you enter the space. #focoart #publicart #focoartist

This week’s Art in Public Places Spotlight is Alley Views by Joe McGrane (2017). Alley Views is located in the Montezuma Fuller Alley, adjacent to the downtown parking lot at Oak & Remington. This artwork by local artist Joe McGrane was designed to provide interest to the restroom facade and add a playful art element to the alley landscape. It includes a 5-foot diameter radiating tile mosaic with five convex mirrors framed by a brick band. Reflected images change relative to the position of the viewer and radius of mirrors. #focoart #publicart #focoartist
