Working up this @gregliszt creation in the kitchen last night — can’t even tell you how excited I am to play some Deadly Gentlemen songs with this stacked crew on my senior recital. Come to the @redroom939 on April 15 at 1 pm, it’s free!
Picking some four finger bluegrass at 250bpm, feels great to let the right hand really run! This is a tune about an amusement park horse galloping away full tilt while a guest is riding it. Called “One Ticket One Ride”
@juniorscaife and I played duets in NYC one day last summer and it made a huge impression on me. He's originally from Alabama and sings all sorts of folk music in addition to the vintage soul and RnB he's known for. Deep understanding of the history of banjo and fiddle, too. So here we are jamming again! This time joined by my favorite fiddler and oldest bluegrass friend @caseydriessen . Hilariously, I only talked Casey into coming up to this impromptu NYC session the day before it happened. The chemistry here is quite insane?? This is the end of a long jam on the Stevie song Superstition. Thanks to Ethan Feinberg for engineering and Casey for mixing/video. Enjoy!
Last time I saw @lukasgraham this song had just blown up in Denmark! Amazingly, I know him and his family from an era well before that. It was super fun tracking banjo on his new folk project and also jamming on songs like this in between takes. Hard to believe this video is real! Also, Lukas can sing louder than a Gibson Mastertone plucked at full force. Absolute legend and wonderful person
Mike Merenda (@_themammals ) & Greg Liszt (@crookedstill )recording banjos for the new @lukasgraham album! 🪕 ⚡️ ♥️
