It feels really intense and strange to put anything into the world right now. There’s so much pain out there and cynicism. But it also feels right to find modes of communication through art and music. I don’t know another way. My album comes out today. And I’m mad at my anxiety around it that prevents me from being fully elated to share it with you. But here it is, complete and listenable. Find the time if you can! Time is precious and fleeting of course but listen to it like a conversation. Welcome Across a Violet Pasture into this deeply complicated world! It’s got something to sing about.

An established devotee of dark weirdness, Greg Jamie brings forth his second solo album on Orindal: 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙖 𝙑𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 (out October 10, 2025). Across ten new songs recorded with his longtime collaborator Colby Nathan, Jamie journeys to the strange, enchanted center of his personal vision. This is a space between sleeping and waking, where Jamie’s woodsy, weary voice guides us forward. It’s no surprise that the latest from the Maine-based musician and visual artist aims to haunt, but this experimental folk pop does it in a way that’s more playful than funereal. It lays a shimmering floor over the abyss. The strength of 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙖 𝙑𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 is its intuitive rawness. It’s art made at home; the product of a deep inner life and a personal mythology. And like Greg Jamie’s uncanny watercolor paintings, this record juxtaposes muted, dark backgrounds with shocks of vibrant color. The “violet pasture” of the title evokes a mix of passionate red and cool, sorrowful blue. The resulting purple is mystical and a little extravagant. It’s a color hardly found in nature. And when it is, like the violet flower, it survives only in dappled forest shade. Admired by hermits, fauns, and idealistic weirdos, there’s a secretive, melancholy, and ephemeral beauty to this work. "I'd Get Away", the first single from 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙖 𝙑𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, is streaming everywhere. Listen now through the link in our bio! Greg Jamie on "I'd Get Away": "I’d Get Away is the first song on the album. Making this song felt like a breakthrough for the whole record for me, sonically. It's sort of a surf ballad about letting go of what you can’t change, and moving on from what is final. Transcendence and fog. Clarity after death. Blow up nostalgia and just be. Check out that slide and drift away." Pre-order 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙖 𝙑𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 vinyl LPs, tapes, downloads & set of 6 limited edition postcards now at orindal.com (also linked in bio). His latest solo record “On a Painted Ocean” came out on @westernvinyl in 2025. “The music works within the cosmic sound world that Pauline Oliveros established for the accordion, but McClements’s pieces have a clearly defined harmonic structure as he builds up chords within the loops. It’s a modern take on a classic canon compositional form, like a homespun version of Eno’s Discreet Music”. - Derek Walmsley, @thewiremagazine Photo by @rachaelponycassells Greg Jamie is a Maine-based musician and visual artist. wow ok 2025. had some nice things with a new album coming out which felt like a big step for me. played ~20 shows, toured a lil, saw some new places, booked ~ 65 movies, watched ~250 movies, brought in a new family member with Townes our sweet new kitty, had some art up in some places. feeling very grateful. some photos for evidence. the mastermind was prob movie of the year for me. some fav first viewings of funeral parade of roses, 7 walks with mark brown, toute une nuite, mermaid legend, bye bye love, bogancloch, his motorbike her island, remember my name, little murders, cathedral of new emotions. Loved the new Richard Dawson and cate le bon albums. Loved playing music again, doing shows with advance base, meeting cats and traveling with paige. read some good books. thought about making lists but can’t bring myself to do it for some reason.
