The series of 16 carpets is inspired by some of Kuma-san’s most iconic buildings and is placed in conversation with what is the most important collection of bonsai trees outside of Japan. Right on time, the rare specimens at this very special garden are in full bloom, their ancient trunks topped by stylised flowering foliage that resemble floating clouds. Thrilling news that Jaipur Rugs has acquired the iconic interiors brand Shyam Ahuja. I have long been enamoured by the great @shyam_ahuja and the cult status aura that surrounds his name. His instantly recognisable dhurries and sophisticated sensibility for colour make for the richest design archive to curate from - truly a treasure trove. The advertising campaigns remain some of the most memorable visuals ever created by a luxury brand. When I arrived in India ten years ago, chic people with impeccable taste whispered his name as if they were passing on a closely guarded secret. It gives me immense joy to see @jaipurrugs acquire the jewel in the crown - a sleeping beauty that we intend to revive with great respect into the global powerhouse it once was.
