Continuing to explore the concept of southern identity in the project Shipping Lanes. This is a mixture of images I have taken in the studio, my landscapes and family photos. I have created a kind of stage with a hubcap and mirror and by using my handmade accordion books as walls. The work is titled Queen Lear and imagines what would have happened if Cordelia had been able to speak up and if her father had not sent her away.
AP Drawing is officially “in the books” and I am highlighting the hard work of all the students starting today with S.
Her brushwork and handling of materials are matched by her curious mind and point of view, in work that is fully alive with complexity. You can see one of her award winning works in person at @meredithcollege@meredithcollegeartdept through May 27th at the Frankie G. Weems Gallery. @trishklenow #highschoolart #highschoolartclass #apdrawing @leeseojinnn@greenlevelhigh@glhsfab

I’m an art teacher and for the last two years also a high school tennis coach. We have a great bunch of guys on the team and we all celebrate Rishit who is headed to his first 8A state finals tomorrow at 9:00 am at Millbrook Exchange Park in North Raleigh. Hope you can join us in cheering for Rishit. @greenlevelhigh@g_l_athletics@g_l_wtennis
It felt so empowering and energizing to march with my fellow teachers yesterday.
So many of us have multiple extra jobs in school and out of school. And as teaching becomes more and more complicated every year, we are asked to do more with less. Now we face a decrease in pay while costs are skyrocketing. It is crystal clear that we like so many others, are under attack in North Carolina.
It is time to act. Protesting is just the beginning.
