My quilt “Care” 26 is hanging in a show, “Lean In” curated by the amazing @ellaa_lang and @leacawthorne at @oldstonehousebklyn through April 26!! “Care” is made from care labels snipped from my family’s clothes, quilted onto upcycled fabrics. As I was finishing it, in January 2026, I couldn’t help but think about what we care for, who we care for. And just as care labels become something we don’t even look at, are we noticing everything happening in our communities? Maybe, in 2026, care is a whistle in your pocket, and tuning in enough to know when to blow it.
Well I tried. And knew it was a long shot. But my weirdo sock quilt will not be going to QuiltCon. First time entry, first time rejected! It’s fine and now I get to join the illustrious ranks of #quiltconreject2026.
More from #routedwestquilts @bampfa (Berkeley, CA). This exhibit is incredible. Posting some of my favorites— so hard to choose. Good thing I got the book.
Quick trip out west, and what an amazing opportunity to see #routedwestquilts @bampfa (Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive) w my family. Just one aspect - multigenerational tradition and inspiration.
Finally-getting-around-to-it throw blanket fun. I’d picked up a bunch of red and black striped fabric from the @brooklyn_quilters_guild #FreeTable. Then thought ‘hey, those old black and white striped silk pants I’ve held onto for 20 years will never fit me again’ so I added those to the mix. Stripe fun.
Shared today @brooklyn_quilters_guild — memory quilt of sorts made from my mom’s red velvet/velour dress. (@bloomsdaymakes red dress!!!). My mom, who died when I was a teenager, was a sewist who made many of her and our clothes and first introduced me to sewing. This dress, iconic to her, is going to my brother, her oldest.
