Moment 07: The Evolution
The evolution of iMAG has always been shaped by the right people at the right time.
We’d been delivering large-scale productions at some of the UK’s most iconic venues when a chance meeting changed the company’s trajectory.
David Voyce and Dan Gray, connected to iMAG through a mutual relationship, brought a depth of expertise in video processing and camera systems that perfectly complemented our strengths in LED. It reinforced something we already believed: there was space in the market for a 360-degree visual partner built not just on technical capability, but on the values that have always shaped iMAG: partnership, precision, and a genuinely collaborative approach.
In 2018, @graymattervideo was created as a division of iMAG. It brought its own identity and specialism, but remained woven into our DNA. What began as a strategic vision quickly became something more powerful: a combined offer that expanded naturally as our client base grew around both brands.
Together, we created a more complete offer, able to meet increasingly ambitious briefs with confidence.

On 23rd November, the After Dark Tour lit up the capital, and we were proud to be part of the action.
Working with the fantastic Paul Mclindon and the brilliant team at Blue Revolver, we delivered four towering LED monoliths, a floating Vanish 8 header, and an epic 60-metre-wide projection.
Add in relay screens, full camera support and control, and you’ve got a show that hit every mark.

𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 has been created as a beautiful quiet space away from the hustle and bustle of this cosmic event, where the ebb and flow of the natural world will create a mesmerising, tranquil experience.
𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 was first shown inside the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough for #Nightfall23 and provided a safe, low-level stimulation and recalibration zone for neurodivergent visitors.
For #Nightfall25 it’s been reimagined for outdoors thanks to the brilliant technical team from @graymattervideo . Huge thank you to Dan and Henry from GrayMatter Video, and massive thank you to Rachel and Lyndsey and the whole Nightfall team for having me.
