We loved hosting a series of creative workshops in Gravesend, bringing together residents, community groups and visitors to imagine what St Andrews Gardens could become. The knowledge, memories and creativity shared were incredible. Together, we explored the River Thames and its influence on Gravesend — from heritage and migration to trade, wildlife and cultural diversity — through hands‑on making, conversation and storytelling. A heartfelt thank you to Gravesham Borough Council @graveshambc , SAND @artrack_gravesend , Pathways @choice_support , St George’s Art Centre, Chloe at Blueprints Arts @blueprint.arts , Gravy Girls @gravy.girls , Gravesend Gurdwara @gravesendgurdwara , and to everyone who joined us and made these sessions so special. Watch this space as we explore the artwork and insights from the workshops and begin shaping how the final designs for the artwork and interpretation will be embedded into the gardens. #standrewsgardens #graveshamboroughcouncil #verdelandscapes #communityengagement #placemaking

What a night for Gravesham ✨ Last night, we came together at the Civic Centre to celebrate what makes our borough special, our people, our communities and the pride we share in where we live. At the heart of the evening were our Gravesham Community Award winners, whose dedication and impact reflect Gravesham at its very best every day. We also marked the start of a new civic year, welcoming new leadership and looking ahead to what we can achieve together. 👏 Congratulations to: Cllr Alison Williams, our new Mayor Cllr Baljit Hayre, Deputy Mayor 💙 Thank you to Cllr Jenny Wallace for her leadership and service over the past year. Your contribution has made a real difference across our borough. 📸 Were you there, or can you spot someone you know in the photos? 👉 /gbccomms This is Gravesham. Proud, supportive and connected.

Exciting news for Gravesham 👏 The first round of Pride in Place funding has now been awarded, with more than £360,000 invested into projects that will make a real difference across our communities — alongside an additional £80,000 in match funding from local organisations. This investment is about more than buildings and infrastructure. It is about investing in the places we rely on every day. The facilities that bring our communities together. And the projects helping make our borough cleaner, safer, stronger and more connected. Projects funded so far include: 🏊 Improvements to the Cecil Road Primary School public pool 🏡 Community kitchen and space upgrades at St Aiden’s Church to support services including a community café, lunch clubs and cookery sessions ♿ Improved disabled access and repairs at Higham Memorial Hall ⚽ Improvements to Cobham sports pavilion and playground safety 🚻 Refurbishment of public toilets at Camer Park 🌿 Improvements to communal gardens at independent living schemes across the borough 🚫 New barriers to help prevent fly-tipping 📹 Additional CCTV cameras at key locations across Gravesham These projects will help improve community wellbeing, strengthen local facilities and support cleaner, safer and more connected neighbourhoods across the borough. And this is only the beginning. More projects are currently being considered as part of the Pride in Place programme, with further investment expected later this year. Together, these investments will help strengthen our communities and improve the places we call home.
