in june of 2025 @pantearm and I sat on the edge of plaça de Catalunya surrounded by pigeons live transmitting a silent anti-war protest held by Iranian diaspora in Barcelona. two people waiting is built around a sample of that broadcast, mixed with recordings i made of my grandmothers pigeons in early 2026, and electromagnetic signals emitted from a camcorder I used to film the pigeons both in Barcelona in 2025 and Yorkshire 2026.
i’ve long associated Iran with pigeons after seeing a photo of the Isfahan pigeon towers as a child. throughout my childhood pigeon keeping was a constant presence with the racing season and breeding season acting as markers throughout the year. keeping pigeons myself has always remained out of reach.
