Please join us for our February art show **this coming Thursday**, where artist Joseph Gray @grauwald presents new code-based light art created during a two-week solitary residency at Iolair on Orcas Island.
The pieces are the direct result of this focused period of experimentation, inspired by the calm and beauty of the region. This pop-up exhibit, hosted at Passable @Passable.Art , is the first Seattle showing of this body of work.

Another round from the @iolairarts residency.
FINALLY got into using the @space.filler.art projection mapping tool with some custom paper craft, and it's lovely, what a smooth workflow.
The first version is just a riff on the getting started example, using multiple rotating virtual lights. The second is using the fragment shader technique on the model geometry using a fractional brownian motion variant (obsessed with FBM and Perlin noise based shaders again).

More of what I've been up to at @iolairarts during the residency - been getting back into fabricating paper sculpture from digital 3D models designed and exported from Blender. And there's some random paper folding things, based on techniques in the book Complete Pleats (yeah, it's nerdy like that).
Planning on doing some projection mapping on that larger 3D object using the Processing library @space.filler.art released a bit ago, finally. Hopefully have some of that dialed for the open house on Sunday. And, hopefully, I get some nice and fresh ambient wall projections going at the same time.

Thrilled to be artist-in-residence at @iolairarts for the next couple of weeks! Cooking up some projection mapping, paper craft and deepening into stochastic natural forms with ambient flavors.
Amazing to be in this space working in the quiet of winter, incredible light and calm here.
BTW, the sign has the wrong times for the open house, it's this Sunday from 1-3pm. It will be updated shortly.

The Sylvan grove installation for our Halloween Party is coming along nicely!
As event participants emerge from the House in the Woods, they step into an other-worldly, surreal forest - Sylvan Grove. This spooky environment honors the prevalent Halloween trope of a permeable membrane between the living and the dead -- the in-between, the upside-down, the ethereal dwelling space of ghouls and spirits. In this space, each tree's projection and the animated sky above are designed to convey that participants have entered a digitized underworld, and in this world of digital ghosts, the rules of physical reality no longer apply.
