A great day of racing for our Year 9 and Year 10 rowers at Shrewsbury Regatta on Saturday. The regatta was a first for our J14 crews and they performed brilliantly in perfect weather at one of the most scenic settings on the regatta calendar. Congratulations to our event winners Ellie and Ben, who won the girls and boys J15 singles in some style, emulating Holly and Pete a week earlier and demonstrating the strength in depth in sculling at GSRC. An event win too at their first regatta for our Girls J14 Coxed Quad who showed impressive composure in winning through the heat, semi and final, improving with every race. Well done Annabelle, Aubrey, Amelia, Lizbeth and Cox Oscar. Overall an excellent day of racing and several close finishes. A mention to our Girls and Boys Coxed Quads who both made the final and lost in very tight races. Thank you to @pengwern_boat_club for organising a fantastic regatta. Definitely one of our favourites. Photo credits H Jones M Stewart G Ireland

What an incredible day of racing for Pete and Holly at Great Britain U19 April trials today. These Grange School athletes took it up a level today competing against the very best in a gruelling day of head to head regatta racing. Both rowers demonstrated impressive progress since Spring trials in March, a testament to the hard work they put in over the Easter break whilst on camp. Always looking for ways to improve, they have taken a huge step forward in their bid to represent GB this summer. Pete placed sixth overall whilst Holly finished an excellent 9th. Two scullers in the top ten! Well done both athletes and good luck for the upcoming regatta season. Photo credits: Thank you to @allmarkone for the superb action shots and to @gb_rowing_team for putting on a superb trial regatta.

Seville camp complete ✅ Not the sunniest finish, but still good conditions to round things off. A solid block of training and a trip we won’t forget anytime soon. Well done team! Back in the UK and ready to hit the ground running as summer racing kicks off soon 💪🏼

Training camp had some good opportunities for squad bonding — including the famous Tuesday Easter egg hunt and one of Harri’s iconic quizzes. Never a dull moment in Sevilla! Winners of the quiz: Will, Matt and Peter

Mixed crews, maximum chaos 🚣🏼‍♀️ Points were awarded for speed, style, and serious outfit commitment. Bonus marks for good sportsmanship, deductions for anything even slightly questionable… A shoutout to our champions — rowing away with the glory 🏆 Honourable mentions to the umpires and photography crew without whom the event wouldn’t have taken place.

First few days in sunny Seville. Despite the highly inflated price of Pistachios, Will (and everyone else) is enjoying the camp. #remo #grangerowing 📸: Colin

What a way to mark International Women’s Day! Congratulations to our girls squad who were superb today in both victory and narrow defeat. We are incredibly proud of your performances today at the North West Junior Inter Regional Regatta trial. Thank you to @northwichrowingclub for hosting and to @northwestrowing for organising the event. Wins on the day went to our women’s J16 quad of Alice, Verity, Lucia and Sophie, and our women’s J15 coxed quad of Faith, Evie, Gemma, Ellie and Phoebe. Our women’s J16 double of Izzy and Emily also rowed a superb race, losing by 0.1 seconds, the narrowest possible margin. Congratulations also to our victorious boys J16 quad of Harry, Toby, Fred and Matt. A mention too of our boys J15 coxed quad of Dan, Mason, Jacob, Ben and Ed, who produced a strong row finishing second by just 0.3 seconds. Overall some excellent progress in boat speed following a tough training block through January and February. We now turn our attention to the Wintech Junior Sculling Head at Dorney on the 23rd March. Can’t wait!

GSRC took to the water at Acton Bridge on Saturday for our annual fixture with @wbsbc and @borlaserowing This year, we were happy to welcome @yarmschool_boatclub to complete a line up of excellent school sculling programmes. 143 students competed throughout the day, and also took the opportunity to make some new friends along the way. On Sunday Grange rowers travelled the short distance to compete at the Junior Head North, with some of our Year 9 students competing at their first ever event. Congratulations to all who raced. Conditions were challenging with heavy rain throughout the day. A reminder of what a tough sport rowing can be in the winter months. There were wins for our J18 girls quad who rowed the fastest time of the day in the afternoon division. A win too for our J18 boys B crew in their event. 1st WJ18 4x Holly, Verity, Alice, Emily 1st Op J18 4x Matt, Toby, Fred, Josh 1st W J14 Octuple 1st Op J14 Octuple Thank you to @northwestrowing for organising this event which has grown into a superbly competitive head race in only its third year. Thank you also to @runcornrowingclub for hosting and catering. Photo credits: J Burrows
