Opening May 28, Tower of Song: Iconic Songwriters & Recordings Presented by @CityNationalBank explores the art of songwriting and recording through legendary artifacts, immersive displays, and stories behind the music that shaped generations.
Created in partnership with @songwritershof and the Recording Academy, the new exhibit celebrates the legacies of the Songwriters Hall Of Fame and Grammy Hall Of Fame through iconic recordings and the songwriters behind them.
On view: artifacts connected to artists including Janet Jackson, Nirvana, Prince, Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Heart, Bill Withers, and more. Highlights include Kurt Cobain’s guitar used to write songs on Nevermind, Prince’s Purple Rain-era wardrobe pieces, handwritten lyrics from Neil Diamond and Allee Willis, and instruments used by @flytetymejam & Terry Lewis to create the sound of Rhythm Nation.
Opening night includes a special public program with Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductees Jimmy Jam and Diane Warren.
