I don’t really post much of my work, but I stepped out of my usual creative space for this video and wanted to show gratitude for the blessing.

Roughly 2 yrs ago, the only music I could play was ‘Frere Jacques’ on keys. I was working on a video montage piece for Janet & Julien’s Auctions and J wanted to honor her family using a typewriting animation as the intro. I didn’t have a sound designer or composer for the project and our stock choices weren’t great, so, as many creatives do, I thought maybe I could do it myself 😬 . It was extremely difficult. I’m talking DAYSss of trial & error for just seconds of audio lol. Eventually, I submitted my work with the caveat that I still had a melody I wanted to add, but that I was having trouble playing the notes I wanted to use. In an effort to help, Janet—being the amazing person that she is—hopped on a video call, hummed (!!) each note, and then guided me to move up and down the digital keyboard until I landed on the right one. She did this for every single note until I had the whole melody!😩♥️ Ultimately we ended up going with the initial more atmospheric piece I did without the melody…but I was bitten by the music bug and had a new humming technique in my pocket to help me.
Fast forward to this year on her Together Again tour… I thought it would be kinda cool if there was a new remix of the song in honor of the show. Just like before, in the absence of one, I thought I’d try to create one myself….and, just like before… it.was. HAAARRDD! I’m still exploring & learning, but after weeks of work, I’m blessed to be able to share my first original remix!
