Chelsea build-up week is officially underway 🌿 Over the last few days we’ve been walking the showgrounds before the crowds arrive — capturing the incredible atmosphere, craftsmanship and creativity that goes into bringing Chelsea Flower Show to life. This year, Grad can be found across three different Chelsea locations: • The EcoScape stand featuring Charlotte Rowe Garden Design • “Hedgerow in the Sky” by Sarah Mayfield and Monica from @gabelgreendesign • The SGLD stand designed by Eliza Gray Garden Design From balcony gardens to outdoor workspace concepts and beautifully detailed planting schemes, it’s been brilliant to see so many thoughtful spaces taking shape. And honestly… seeing Chelsea before opening day is always something special. More behind-the-scenes moments coming this weekend 👀 #ChelseaFlowerShow #Chelsea2026 #GardenDesign #LandscapeDesign #GradSystem

That sentiment stayed with us all night. Hearing Tom Stuart-Smith tomstuartsmithstudio reflect on a lifetime of work — the meaning behind it, the people it’s for, and the quiet power of landscapes to shape how we live — felt like the perfect thread to weave through this year’s SGLD Awards. Beautifully hosted by Arit Anderson @aritanderson and Andrew Duff MSGD @andrewduffsgld , the evening celebrated not just outstanding projects, but the values, care and collaboration behind them. Huge congratulations to Tom Stuart-Smith on the Lifetime Achievement Award, and to all the winners and finalists — from emerging designers to established practices — whose work continues to raise the bar for our industry. 🌿🏆 A very special night. Congratulations to every winner and finalist — an extraordinary breadth of work, voices and values celebrated in one evening. We’ve given your our stonework care tips and today we are looking at decking and cladding with @gradsystem_uk ✍️ 1) Keep it clear: Sweep away leaves and debris regularly to prevent trapped moisture, which can lead to surface staining or algae growth — especially on shaded decks. 2) Gentle clean only: A soft brush and pH-neutral cleaner will do the job nicely. No jet washing needed — and no damage to timber fibres or finishes. 3) Encourage airflow: One of the perks of the Grad System is that boards sit on raised aluminium rails, allowing airflow underneath. This design naturally reduces trapped moisture and helps keep timber stable through wet months. 4) Quick check under the deck: Occasionally lift a board to make sure nothing has collected underneath — leaves, debris, or the odd visiting creature! With the Grad system, boards simply click up and down again without damage or needing replacements. 5) Avoid harsh chemicals: Modified timbers like Accoya®, Kebony®, and Thermory® already have impressive weather resistance, so mild cleaning is all that’s required to maintain their natural beauty. A huge thank you to the Society of Garden Designers @societyofgardendesigners for an inspiring two-day SGLD Symposium in Sheffield. We had the pleasure of meeting so many brilliant garden designers and landscape architects — each passionate about design that not only looks beautiful but works in harmony with nature. 🌳 From @nigel.dunnett ’s reflections on resilient landscapes, to @harukoseki ’s vision of gardens beyond climate, @jihae_hwang_gardens ’s perspective on facing the climate crisis, and the thought-provoking panels led by @andrewduffmsgd MSGD, @errolfernandes , and John Wyer FSGD — the conversations around designing for a changing climate were truly energising. For us at Grad System UK, it reinforced why we love working with natural timber. Thoughtful materials, clever design, and a hidden-fix system that allows landscapes to breathe — built to last for decades, not seasons. It was a privilege to showcase the Grad system alongside so many inspiring voices shaping the future of garden design.

🌟 Glasshouse Collective x Grad — Taking Care of Business This week we joined an incredible line-up at the Glasshouse Collective for the Taking Care of Business workshop — led by industry legend Alan Sargent, who shared six decades of experience on handling clients and running successful landscaping projects. We heard insights from leaders across the sector — Mark Gregory, Wayne Grills, Gareth Wilson, Paul Greenyer, and Phil Tremayne — in a lively panel discussion that gave practical, real-world advice for designers, landscapers, and contractors. 🎥 Our showreel captures the atmosphere of the day — from thought-provoking talks to the buzz of networking with the UK’s best. And of course, we showcased Grad’s hidden-fix decking and cladding system — giving attendees a chance to experience a faster, cleaner, smarter way of building outdoor spaces. 👉 Want to learn more? Decking that disappears (and reappears) effortlessly. In Ascot, LDC Ltd needed a smart solution for cladding a steel-framed retractable pool cover—without compromising on clean lines or durability. 🛠️ The brief: -Match the dark wood theme of the garden’s outdoor cinema -Zero visible screws -Sleek skirting to conceal the mechanism -Boards that could handle wet conditions year-round 🌿 The solution? -Moso® X-treme Bamboo decking: water-resistant, dark-toned, and tough as nails (without needing any) -Grad hidden fix system: clean lines, flawless alignment, and no visible fixings -Custom design support from Grad: 3 site visits, detailed drawings, and hands-on advice 📏 A PR39 rail system created the height needed, with PR24 rails and B2 brackets supporting a double skirting board finish—ensuring both form and function were spot on. 🗨️ “We’d highly recommend Grad for their clarity of construction drawings and always being on hand for advice or site visits.
