🚨 FREE PRODUCTION RIGHTS 🚨
The next 3 productions of “Explicit Content for Teens” are free to produce. First come, first served!
“Explicit Content for Teens” is a funny, interactive ensemble play about art, censorship, and what happens when your real-life community votes on whether or not the show goes on.
I’ve loved seeing the productions this show has already had and the wildly different conversations they’ve sparked afterward. College students, middle schoolers, and everyone in between have brought something unique to it, and I know you will too!
Read the script at the link in bio.
To claim one of the free productions (or ask questions), send me a DM or reach out through my website.
Guest appearance for Free Comic Book Day! This year we have Grace Ellis, Gary Dumm, John G, and Joseph Sieracki signing comics on Saturday, May 2nd from 11am - 5pm!

🚨 NEW PODCAST!
As part of the Bexley Public Library writer-in-residence program, I’m launching a writing advice podcast called Plot Doctor, coming soon in the BPL podcast feed (available everywhere you listen).
The goal is to illustrate how writers approach problems. We’ll tackle any writing question, from tiny craft tweaks to big plot knots to full-on writer existential crises (aren’t they all).
Send your question to:
[email protected]
You can also send me (Grace) a DM on Instagram right now!
Questions welcome worldwide! Bexley/Columbus folks may get priority at first, but don’t let that stop you.
By submitting, you’re giving us permission to read and discuss your question on the podcast (obviously).
The doctor is REAL IN
Honored and thrilled to be the Bexley Public Library Writer in Residence for 2026! Ahhhhh!
The premise I pitched for this residency is simple: Writing should be fun, accessible, and community-based. Writing is something everyone can do (and is probably already doing), so these events are about meeting you wherever you are and turning writing into something you enjoy and feel confident doing in whatever form you’re drawn to.
We have a lot of great programs planned, including the events listed here, plus open-door office hours where you can come talk with me about your writing.
I’ll also be recording a couple of podcast episodes with various writer friends (writer friends: let me know if you want in), where we’ll answer your writing questions. I’ll share more about that soon, but if you already have a question, feel free to email me through my website.
I can’t wait to see you there!
I have a story in the new Baby Garfield comic! It was a lot of fun to work on, and it was really cool to write for a character I’ve been reading since I was a kid. I was even lucky enough to have my script drawn by Asia Simone!
Our story is about Baby Garfield’s first word, and I would describe it as “surprisingly existential.” Can Baby Garfield grasp theory of mind, or is lasagna merely a temporary release from desire caused by solipsistic suffering? Find out in Baby Garfield #1, a comic I was not allowed to write the marketing copy for!
Pre-order it from your local comics shop, on sale March 18!
My play “Explicit Content for Teens” will have its first middle school production this spring! I love this!
Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts will present a lightly edited (see slide 2) version on March 4 and 5, 2026. @nobleandgreenough
Having seen high school and college versions of this show, I can’t tell you how excited I am to see a younger group try it on. It takes guts to (accurately, in my opinion) say that a show about censorship is the right show for middle schoolers, and I admire them for having the courage of their convictions on that front. I believe VERY strongly that the heart of theater is iteration and specificity, and these kids (and their intrepid director, @adaire.robinson , who is genuinely visionary) are already bringing so much to this show, I think it’s going to be really special. Check it out if you’re nearby!
BOOK ANNOUNCEMENT! “Fanatic” at DC Vertigo alongside genius artist Hannah Templer!
I’m absolutely thrilled beyond words. It’s been a wild experience getting to work so closely with these people and watch all of our choices spiral beyond what any of us expected. This story hits close to home, and I can’t wait for you to experience it in 2026!
Official promo text:
She’s the ultimate fan. And she’ll kill to prove it.
A lonely, small-town army wife becomes obsessed with a popular comic and its seemingly aspirational writer. She just gets this story and these characters… and what’s more, she knows what’s best for them, probably better than the writer herself! She quickly discovers just how far she’ll go—the lines she’s willing to cross, the lives she’s willing to destroy—in the name of true fandom. But when her opportunistic lies weave a dark web of deceit that paves the way to genuine literary fame, will she be able to remember the difference between dreams and reality? Will you?
The Eisner Award-winning team behind the real-life comic Flung Out of Space (writer Grace Ellis and artist Hannah Templer) reunite for another shocking story you won’t want to believe is true. It’s a modern parasocial thriller that will have you biting at your knuckles with anxiety… and maybe even recognition.
We’re partnering on a fun program coming up later this month at @superscriptohio on September 16th at 7pm! @gracecellis and @saraphoebee will be in town to talk pitching and writing comics! See you there! @boom_studios
