For a guy who didn’t think he could draw a good cat, I think I did pretty good. @kate_mckean wrote a super fun story that let me make some super fun drawings. I had a blast working with the fine folks @sourcebookskids too.

I wonder if Absolute Batman could show up in the Good Guy Gang universe somehow? I could picture 8yr old Superman being a little scared of him and his intensity. This was a fun drawing to do and yes, I’m aware the moon is a little janky.
A slight aside, I actually sat next to @ssnyder1835 last year at the ALA conference and didn’t realize who he was until he got up to do the keynote speech! Then I was waaaaay to chicken to introduce myself after. I think I coulda pitched him on an Absolute kids graphic novel haha! Ah well, them’s the breaks.
Either way @dccomics I’m ready to do some variant covers! @albertxii you can pull some strings, right? 😂

Today is Superman Day!
Every DC fan has a stash of comics to read. But I read the advance issues of two new comics coming soon.
Last year's Superman's Good Guy Gang by Rob Justus has a sequel coming out in July. Superman's Good Guy Gang: Follow the Leader continues the adventures of an eight year old Superman and his growing gang of friends. Superman, Green Lantern and Hawkgirl are joined by Mr Terrific, and none of them want to play with the annoying six year old Lex Luther. In an attempt to gain their friendship his invention once again turns into a wacky monster that the kid supers need to battle and overcome. These kids may be superpowered but they still act like kids and these early reader graphic novels are a lot of fun.
Older kids can look forward to next month's Supergirl's Family Vacation written by Brandon T. Snider and illustrated by Sarah Leuver. This middle grade graphic novel combines preteen angst with family vacation comedy and superhero adventure. Kara is a well rounded character who feels overshadowed by her cousin's fame, and ignored because of his other responsibilities. Unlike Clark who was raised on earth, she longs to visit Argo City and connect with a bit of home. When the family takes a detour to a planet that superman saved, Lois and the kids realize that all is not what it seems. I loved this book and can't wait to read more superhero stories from this author.

As I start working on the next Supergirl Zoo-per Heroes, it’s always fun to go back and look at some of the first sketches I did. These are definitely me just figuring things out and getting a feel for some of the characters, but they grew to be a fun book for a great series! Now back to work!

Everyone can have a tough day. Even superheroes. So when your crazy dog accidentally hits the release hatch from your team’s space station, and sends everyone’s dirty laundry hurdling towards earth, ya gotta change your plans and fix it.
I don’t know what it is, but this is one (of many) favorite drawings from SUPERGIRL’S ZOO-PER HEROES. I just like it! Or maybe I just like shooting stars. Or maybe I just like doing laundry! …yeah probably not that.
