“Intrigued by a 10-year-old @hyperallergic post I came across the other day, I dug around a little and found a digital copy of More Than Words: Illustrated Letters from the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art that is available for free at archive.org (just search the book title and you’ll find it). While it’s not the same as holding the book in your hands, especially since the topic is so visual, you get a good sense of the whimsical work regardless. As someone who’s been thinking a lot about how to best document life, time, and parenthood, the wildly different artistic takes on self-reflection and expression give me much food for thought. Though I lack the necessary talent to measure up, “leafing through the pages” (clicking a button a bunch of times) inspired me to at least purchase a physical copy of the book, if not start writing my own.” - Gossamer co-founder @daweiner in last week’s Saturday High Praise newsletter. The hemp industry as we know it is about to be destroyed.
Language hidden in the Senate funding bill would ban full-spectrum hemp products, wiping out an entire industry built on accessibility, wellness, and innovation.
This is about as bad as it can get for thousands of farmers, small businesses like ours, and consumers of both medicinal and recreational products.
We need your voice. Tell your reps to vote YES on Rand Paul’s amendment and to keep hemp legal. Details and instructions in our bio. Don’t wait. It only takes 30 seconds of your time and key decisions are being made as you read this.
“I love a good ‘if you know, you know’ New York City thing, and @zulualphakiloinc ’s NYC Merit Badges are a fine iteration of that (even if some are cliché to the point of being known beyond the five boroughs). A/C Unit Drip, Did NOT get on Empty Subway Car, Saw Law & Order Filming, and Waited in Car for Alternate-Side Parking are some of my favorites, but overall, I’m impressed with the range of experiences. A great gift for your favorite New Yorker, and all proceeds go toward GoVoteNYC.org. I just wish they sold them as a set.”

“If I had to categorize all my favorite colors into one defining scheme, I’d call it lichen. My favorite outfits are ones that could convincingly be described as ‘dressing like a lichen’ (both texturally and chromatically). If I could nibble some mushrooms and walk through lichen-mantled woods every single weekend of my life, I’d probably be a much happier person.” – Gossamer co-founder @vonverena in our Saturday High Praise newsletter.
