Big thanks to @untappd for the Community Awards! We don’t usually toot our own horn, but six medals (two of them gold!) felt like a good excuse. More importantly, we had to share the love, because you’re the reason we got them. Not bad for our tiny little brewery! We’re proud of what we make, but even more grateful for the community that keeps cheering us on. Almost Always Never is back today, pouring on draft in Freeport and in cans to go. You know when you put someone’s face on a beer label and everyone thinks they died? Yup… that happened. So we took Chris’s face off the Almost Always Never can to avoid the confusion. Chris is alive and well, he’s just doing other things in life and no longer brewing with us…that’s all šŸ¤— Now back to the beer: Portland Common // 5.2% ABV // We brew this beer in the style of a California Common, also known as a Steam Beer. We’ve called this a Portland Common, with deference to the originators of the style, and the awesome manner in which Common is cooled, fermented, and cellared. Amber in color with ample hop character from hot side Crystal and Northern Brewer hops, and a smooth, fruity finish. Our version of this unique lager style is unfiltered, lively, and built for sessioning.

T-8 days! šŸ‡©šŸ‡ŖšŸ»šŸ„³ Join us for Freeport’s FOURTH Annual Kƶlsch-ish Night on Thursday, May 14th! We’re celebrating the release of Dizzy Spell, our take on the German Kƶlsch. We say ā€œISHā€ because it’s an Almost Kolsch. It’s Kolsch-ish. It’s a Kolsch lookalike. Why? Because we’re in MAINE, not GERMANY! Duh! Anyways, Ben and the rest of the kitchen are going to be making some seriously great German-ish specials to complement the traditional tableside tray service, which means $4 tableside stanges of Dizzy Spell starting at 5pm. Swing through for a traditional-ish Germanic beer hall experience next week…. and get some notches on that coaster of yours. More about the beer: Dizzy Spell // ā€œAlmost Kƶlschā€ // 5% ABV Dizzy Spell, our Kƶlsch-inspired ale. We brew Dizzy with local Pilsner and Wheat malt, Hallertau + Crystal hops, and Kolsch yeast, and lightly dry-hop with Crystal before a long period of lagering. Dizzy Spell is quenchingly dry and fruity, with rich crackery malt, and a pleasant, citric drinkability. It’s a beer we look forward to sharing each year in the spring time.

FRIDAY. SMALL BEER NIGHT. It’s here. Our friends from Goodfire Brewing Company roll in around 5PM—but the beers start pouring before that. Three small beers. All built right: Worms — Best Bitter — 4.4% A classic English pub ale built on balance, not volume. ā€œBitterā€ refers to the hop character, but it’s not aggressive—think firm, earthy bitterness layered over toasted bread and light caramel malt. Traditionally served on cask in the UK, it’s designed for long sessions and multiple pints without fatigue. Cuppa — English Mild — 4% Low ABV, malt-forward, and criminally underrated. English Mild leans soft and rounded—notes of cocoa, nutty biscuit, and a touch of dark fruit, with almost no hop bite. Historically a working-class beer meant for everyday drinking, it’s smooth, easy, and quietly complex. Strictly Analog — Zwickelbier — 5.4% An unfiltered German lager pulled straight from the tank—naturally hazy with a fuller body than your typical pils. Zwickelbier showcases fresh malt character (bread dough, soft grain) with a subtle herbal hop note. It’s essentially ā€œbrewery-freshā€ lager the way it was meant to be tasted. Low ABV. Full flavor. No shortcuts. Pints over hype tonight.

This beer is a Double IPA we brew every year for 4/20, with 3 types of oats (malted, flaked, @oatly oat milk ) and 3 ā€œcombsā€ of hops: Citra, Topaz, and Enigma. Resinous floof, no-holds-barred hop intensity. This one disappears fast, come drink it up! We’ll have it on tap and in 4-packs to go. Hungry? This week’s BEER OF THE WEEK is Strictly Analog, our Zwickelbier! What’s a Zwickelbier? Sometimes called a Kellerbier, it’s a young German lager served in the spirit of drinking lager as it would taste straight out of the fermenter. To get even more nerdy and nitty gritty, this lager verges on a pils-like hopping rate but lives in the space between. So it has a slight unfiltered haze and a bread-forward flavor profile amplified by Saaz and Tettnang hops. YOU WANT MORE NITTY-GRITTY DETAILS?! It also sees a Franconian-style decoction mash with its typical ā€œRostenā€-style hopping. Anyways, it’s a really fun way to make lager and one of our favorite beers to brew and drink here šŸ˜ŽšŸ†’šŸ»ā°šŸ•°ļøšŸ‡©šŸ‡Ŗ AND PLEASE NOTE FREEPORT IS CLOSING EARLY ON TUESDAY, 4/14 AT 4PM FOR A PRIVATE EVENT!

Think: greasy, crunchy, cheesy, salty, sweet. You get it ... Come hungry! Come thirsty! This Friday, April 17 from open to close. What’s Tri Combs? It’s Double IPA we brew annually for 4/20.
