Back in the blue walls, after 4 years of green in Victoria I’m back shaping in the Northern Rivers where the skies are grey today but the tubes are blue.
Been good to get back in the bay and work away on orders present, enjoying these quads at the moment, lot of speed and drive, for the long walls.
Some evolution since last here. You’d hope anyway.
Thanks to customers and yes chat soon.
trial and error. This chine rail quad is a mix of shortboard ish elements and fish speeds. It’s none of the two but mixes design over time. @shyamabuttonshawdesigns and i testing

my chine - a mix of design as a quad setup. It’s early days, but I like the overall area in the board, the rocker is appropriate for small to medium surf, flat or steep.

Sam from S.A.M. Wearing his S.A.M. riding a 5’10 @goodbugmix board while hiding from the sun on a bright bumpy day a bit more north than normal.
The board gives speed when you keep movements minimal and smooth, feels powerful with the rail engaged and has some awesome release through a lip.
Slove and zar made this whimpy C.A.T.S love song on sloves last trip up.
Thanks @tobycregan for the vids always nice to be filmed collaterally and get to see the clips!

Two of two for @finbox on the south coast - there is a summer fun macauleys thruster and a more serious winter sandon swallow tail - both beautifully glased by @joymillsurfboards

@mikeyfebruary riding a board I made for the @stab EAST - I was hoping for good waves for this board and purposely made him a shortboard design I’d been working on to maybe get the chance to see what he could do with it.
It’s interesting to see mikey feel the roll bottom out and I could see it start to find life in the one bit of curve he gets. Thanks mike for the interest and opportunity ! Cool to see him ride all these different designs in the concept. The idea for this design, was surrounded by single fins - I was chasing a feeling of glide in a shortboard, with less pump movement, the roll allowed the board ( when up on plane ) to accelerate in a smooth formation; like a single fin, turns are long and drawn out. The short board version needs curve to perform and as it is the opposite to concave - it needs a more subtle approach, like a heel toe movement - direction and weight shifting. The board was made to create speed and modern functionality in a different way to that of the general concave shortboards. The fins are grennan boomerang fins @true_ames they play the role in reducing drag - and as the board gets up on plane and engages with the roll - less fin is key.
