Longhorn moth 🇬🇧
A tiny yet extemely colorful and beautiful moth from Germany.
It looks like someone literally poured gold over it - what a stunner and precious little gem!
The shot is from 2022, still on the E-M1 III back then, a camera which I enjoyed shooting with a lot, and, in my humble opinion, is still the best looking OM/Oly camera, design-wise.
Sometimes it's not about getting a crazy deep stack, but a single shot that captures beautiful details, like the golden scales of this moth - just in time before it flies away. A stack would have been wasted and I wanted to make sure I got at least one shot of this beauty.

Whenever I find Acorn weevils (Curculio glandium), I observe them as long as possible to witness these clumsy beetles taking off and try to nail that particular moment when they open their wing cases and ultimately take off.
Nailing a shot mid-air is a lot more challenging then getting the shot that you can see above.
This specimen had a super dark "face" and did definitely stand out from the others that I have photographed in the past years.
I am currently writing a blogpost on Autofocus (AF) vs Manual Focus (MF) and came to the conclusion that I have to experiment with C-AF at high magnfication macro ranges a lot more this coming summer - to get the actual in-flight shots as well and improve my hit rate even more.
Curious as to how this will turn out.

Icius hamatus jumping spider
The first and only time I have found this species, 2 years ago.
They have an interesting orange abdomen with a white stripe on the side.
The shots have been sitting on my SSD for a while and I only found them because I needed space and deleted thousands of RAWs.
It surprises me every time how many forgotten photos I have, not even bad ones but just way too many and too little time to edit them all. Weeks pass and they are forgotten...

Gossamer winged butterfly covered in dew drops.
Despite looking like a sunset or nightshot, it's actually taken during the early morning sunrise with the sun coming up right behind the butterfly.
It was pretty windy and the stalk with the butterfly on it was rocking back and forth.

Toads (and frogs) often have beautiful eyes with intense colors and patterns.
You do not have to necessarily travel to exotic places to find those, since local species also sport these fascinating features.
Found and photographed this specimen in the "Westruper Heide" (Heath) in late 2025 during a fun night field trip with @enricobo77@emakaero and @marlon.d.macro

Nothing beats observing ant behaviour!
Easily my favorite sceens to stare at for minutes if Not hours, whenever i find a nest.
This year I'll be back in one of my favorite spots in the Brunssummer Heide in the Netherlands - where i usually find dozens of large ant nests, so I am stoked to see what I'll find as soon as spring will be here
