Artist, Hanna Staudinger, explains here how she was inspired by his life and created the series of paintings in his memory.

Hanna Staudinger is a human Brazilian fine art artist, now based in Nothern California.
Born in Resplendor, Minas Gerais, her introduction and decision to pursue art comes from the globally rich cultural experiences and spiritual journeys she has experienced in her life.
Her strong passion for travel and interest in language eventually brought her US, where she feels at home.
After raising two children, she rediscovered her love for illustration and painting, eventually finding her heart in Watercolor.
Being moved by the human spirit, her art is driven by her international perspective on the human experience. Her vibrant creations express her interpretation of individuals’ stories and excels at portraitures, where she feels like she can honor stories of the people in all walks of life across the globe
We created this silent auction to honor Josh Olds—aka DiscoPill—and to support his son, Gavin, through the unimaginable loss of his father.
I don’t usually share my art here, and I’ve always felt a little shy about selling it too. But this feels different. Josh is still finding ways to push me out of my comfort zone, just like he always did when he was here.
He believed in my craft, my passion, and my art even when I didn’t. He was one of my biggest supporters—not just of my photography and videography, but of me as a whole person.
This limited collection includes: • One-of-a-kind photo prints (shot, edited, and printed with so much love by me) • Original paintings by Hanna Staudinger • Album artwork from a handful of other incredibly talented artists
Together, these pieces celebrate Josh’s spirit, warmth, and the joy he brought into every room.
Josh was an incredibly talented artist, music producer, founder of Gold Bloc Records, a loving father, a loyal friend, a mentor, a community builder, and a gifted chef.
His transition leaves a space that can never be filled, but the brilliant light of his spirit lives on in the memories we share and the countless lives he touched.
Proceeds from this auction will support Gavin as he pursues his dream of graduating with a degree in aerospace engineering.

Hi, my name is Hanna Staudinger (@hanna__staudinger ).
I am an artist, mother, and have suffered through my own mental health challenges.
I never met Josh, but was deeply moved by his story, his character, love, and talent for music.
I was deeply moved and felt inspired to paint a watercolor collection to raise money for Josh’s son, Gavin, while raising awareness about #mentalhealth.
Let’s stop judging and questioning mental health symptoms.
I am neurodivergent and have gone through challenges that are often exacerbated by social stigma. I’ve heard many comments like, “if you’re busy enough, you won’t have time for depression”; “shake it off”; “you need friends”; etc.
When someone breaks an arm, they need time for recovery. Mental health symptoms are even worse because they are debilitating internally—wherever you go—no breaks! Even when we can’t see the wound, it doesn’t mean it is not there!
If you know someone is struggling with mental issues, be there for them! Take them to a psychiatrist, help them get on meds or therapy.
Show them how much they mean to you, because we never know what they need in that moment!
I always tell people: “Tell the ones you love how you feel—out of the blue! Take a few seconds to remind them how important they are to you.
Don’t leave it up to chance: “Oh, they know I love them!”

Gold Bloc Artists/Records & local artist, Hanna, @hanna_Staudinger are auctioning a series of four original watercolor paintings to support Gavin, the extremely talented son of our dear friend Josh Olds (aka @Discopill ).
The artist, Hanna Staudinger—though she never met Josh—was deeply moved by his story, his character, love and talent for music, and his impact on the Bay Area music scene for over 25 years of his life.
These four emotionally inspired pieces were created in his honor.

1. There will ALWAYS be a better snare to use. Always. But sometimes you just gotta throw down the next best thing and release it anyway. The most important thing you can do as a producer is FINISH your track. Dont get caught in fine tuning the 0.01% for weeks on end like I did.
You fear releasing because you imagine what your track would sound like as if you were a master at the craft, then you realize that it sounds NOTHING like how you imagined. This thought is a trap and will keep you from dropping your dope tunes. Realize that when you first start make music you are literally only capable of producing at the skill level you’re at. You can’t be better than you are right now. But you can work on being better by completing the reps. One rep = one release.
2. Name one person that you know who released their FIRST track and had it blow up, signed a record deal, and started touring….. yea let’s stop comparing ourselves to whoever that is✌️
You can’t build a catalogue or a fan base if you don’t have something out there for people to listen to. The first release should be a practice of completing the assignment rather than seeking recognition.
3. The only opinion that matters is yours. Who’s to say that this art is better than that art? Go tape a banana to a wall and ask someone if that’s art. Like fr, someone bought an invisible sculpture for $18,000 and you’re worried that no one will like your song?!
