Since he was 16 years old, @andreforatlanta had the dream of being the Mayor of Atlanta. Now, as Mayor, he has the vision to transform underserved neighborhoods, to transform the lives of people in them. I am extremely proud of him for using his voice, and his administration, to help those most in need - while continuing to serve all of Atlanta. #EraseTheLine #NRI

As a former baseball player growing up in Atlanta, I was honored to throw the First Pitch for the Rookie L.E.A.D. Spring Baseball Game. Baseball became the framework for friendships, teamwork, and understanding what Mayor Dickens calls, The Group Project, while celebrating our @braves . These games are made possible by a partnership with L.E.A.D. Center For Youth and Atlanta Public Schools, providing over 100 elementary school students the opportunity to play baseball for their schools. Thank you to the great team over at @lead2legacy_atl , and to @kellistewart97 @iamcjstewart for your vision and leadership. Shout out @atlyearoftheyouth , all those that grew up playing CYO or Sandtown, and @apsupdate . Solutions for our youth work when we are present, consistent, and willing to fill the gaps and tell our story. 📷 ismooth

My mother died at 57 (March 2017). She, like me, was raised and lived in SW Atlanta. The data shows that if my mother, Donna, lived a few miles north, her life expectancy changes by at least 20 years - amongst other things. Based on the outcomes of the data in the images, Mayor Dickens is intervening with the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative (NRI) to change these outcomes, making Atlanta the best place to raise a child. These images are facts about disparity caused by redlining, and other systematic policies. I’m grateful to be around more Atlantans that look at these facts and want to do something positive about it. I’m sharing this because if you are in Atlanta, you need to know these facts. Like my mother, this is the community I grew up in. They are my teachers, coaches, barbers, mentees, mentors, etc. More information about the NRI can be found at /
