Ciaccona and Other Debauched Dances spins out from the early chaconne — once a wild, bawdy dance from the New World, banned by polite society 💃 This piece, commissioned by @glow_coll for the 2024 @mafestival_brugge , looks at how music and dance from “othered” cultures have long fascinated and scandalised — from the chaconne to Southeast Asia.

Tomorrow, DAS HAUS opens its doors for an evening that will transport you across centuries of musical history.
A composer with roots in both Western and Thai traditions, Prach Boondiskulchok specially composed a piece for this concert, by blending centuries-old composition with contemporary soundscapes. Expect to hear instruments like the electric guitar and accordion, woven together with the timeless tones, as the GLoW Collective & Pitcho bring fresh life to Chaconne.🎼
