Got a ton of gouges today from @hktoolco at hand tool haven. Also filled in another spot if my millers falls lineup with this no11. A couple freebies and a block of shellac wax. Wish I would have maybe tried a little harder to say hi to people but it was nice to see and say hello to a few.
So I made a display to hold some of my spoons for a local Cafe to resell. It turned out pretty close to my notepad sketches. Kinda. Maybe? #spooncarving #handtoolwoodworking
A new experiment / adventure this year. We have always loved maple syrup and when Karen was in college she helped make maple syrup in a sugar shack. So for valentines I bought a tree tapping kit and we watched the weather forecast for the right time. I was afraid we missed our window but we ended up getting over 17 gallons of sap from 2/24-3/1. Which is good we didn't get much more because it took 12 hours to get this boiled down to syrup, and I may have even stopped a degree or 2 early.
The last of the prize pack from #derustdecember2025 got here and I just wanted to thank @crcauto and @evapo_rust for being so generous with all the swag and products. There was actually more but I already shared a set of the sprays with a family member. 4 GALLONS of evaporust should keep me covered for a while and once I figured out what the portable fan was, I was excited to have it in case I get stuck at another sweaty craft show this summer.
Newest #derustdecember2025 entry. Still going with that 1 old gallon and it is still killing the rust. I gave these a quick scrub and sharpen after the soak and at least for cutting paper so far they seem to work. I might try to sharpen them a little more later but with how they looked before I'm amazed they can cut anything. @crcauto@evapo_rust
The fret saw was good but this #derustdecember2025 entry looks great. I just need to sharpen it up and start chopping. I gave the handle a little of my beeswax oil after washing the @evapo_rust off and a light scrub. @crcauto
I've been thinking about buying a fret saw for a while then I remembered I actually already have one (or more) in a rust bin. Some of the rust went a little deeper than I hoped but everything moves and came apart and it should be fine for fretwork still. It's just nice to know that even after sitting for a few years this @evapo_rust still works @crcauto #derustdecember2025
When you do a mail-in ballot in Pennsylvania ( or at least my county) , you don't get a sticker. I might need to buy a roll of these before the next election. Maybe wear a few on the days in between also.
