Some of the best shots come from preparation, patience, and a bit of sacrifice.
On Saturday, the rally crews tackled SS11 (Soysambu Conservancy), SS12 (Elementaita), and SS13 (Sleeping Warrior), I was already in position long before sunrise. To beat the heavy Nairobi–Nakuru highway traffic, I entered Soysambu at 4:00 AM, drove to my chosen spot, parked, and caught a quick nap while waiting for the action to begin. Even then, I wasn’t the first, other photographers were already on site, a true testament to the dedication this sport inspires.
I positioned myself at a river crossing, one of the most rewarding vantage points. "Hapa magari zilitoka siaka" and they delivered exactly what we hope for as photographers: spectacular full-body water splashes that made every early-morning effort worthy.

WRC 2026 – Day 2 Updates
I wasn’t in the best state of mind to shoot that day, lakini I pushed through. I covered Kedong (SS6 & SS7), positioning myself at the iconic Miti Mbili 🌳🌳 for the jump, with the two trees framing the background.
Fun fact: @anwar_sidi marked this as a prime media photo point during route mapping in 2021.

During the 2026 WRC Safari Rally in Naivasha, I ventured deeper into the stages to capture more intense action. Thursday began with the Shakedown at the new NAWISA stage, followed by Camp Moran in the afternoon, where heavy rains replaced the usual dust to unpredictable terrains. Despite getting soaked, the rains couldn dumpen my passion for motorsports photography.
