PARAR = STOP. Wrote this song after my second back procedure. It was an uncertain time in my life. Being forced to stop and heal gave me time to reflect and realize that a lot of what had manifested in my back was a result of everything I was dealing with in my mind and spirit. Emotions and mental anguish I suppressed and tried to ignore by self medicating eventually led to a total break down. Parar is a song for everyone one of us who runs hard, non-stop and feels guilty when we do take time to stop and rest. It’s a reminder that #selflove, #time, #quiet, #meditation and #reflection are necessary and ok.
PARAR: Escribí esta canción después de mi segunda operación de espalda. Fue un momento incierto en mi vida. Ser forzada a detenerme y sanar me dio tiempo para reflexionar y darme cuenta de que mucho de lo que se había manifestado en mi espalda era el resultado de todo con lo que estaba lidiando en mi mente y espíritu. Las emociones y la angustia mental que suprimí y traté de ignorar mediante la automedicación finalmente llevaron a un colapso total. An incredible week with wonderful friends culminating in an evening of pure joy, elation and beauty. To spend the week prepping for and participating in Hollywood’s biggest night while bearing witness to historic moments is surreal. The musical bar set by @Michaelbearden ‘s incredible direction, musicality and positive energy, coupled with @Chriswaldencomposer ‘s thoughtful and engaging arrangements, commanded excellence from every single player in the Oscars orchestra and I’m sure I speak for my colleagues when I say we are here for it! The way @Tommyvicari engineers and mixes the orchestra to sound like we are double the size is truly masterful.
This production is a massive undertaking and there are so many unsung heroes that make it all come together. So much love and appreciation to @kimberleewertz , @egmcgill , @chandlerharrod , @nilesbuckner , @sabbeaniebaby and all of the behind the scenes team.

Making music with wonderful people!! Kicking off Black History Month at the Grammy Premier Show with incredible musicians and friends while celebrating and recognizing our other musical colleagues and friends felt AH-MAZING!!! Then to follow that weekend with the incredible halftime show this past weekend, watching other colleagues and friends bring joy to millions around the world elevated ALL the feels.
