As creatives & small business owners all agreed that playing in a different medium in a loose creative workshop was so relaxing, joyful & life-giving, especially when surrounded by fun friends! I’m so pumped to have my Key To The Forest Print featured in the latest edition of the beautiful @uppercasemag all about texture!

This print is from my Lungs Of The Earth Collection about my @aceerfoundation Artist Residency in the Peruvian Amazon in 2022. This print features the gorgeous texture of a palm leaf sheath from the Huacrapona palm which I tile-mounted to a MDF block to print.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This textured arch represents the depth, beauty, complexity and rarity of the Amazon Rainforest. The emerald inner arch, fitting like a key in the outer textured arch, represents the Maijuna Indigenous Community’s hunters, who navigated us through the rainforest from the bow & stern of the riverboats, acting as the key to accessing & conducting research in these precious primary forests in need of protection.

The Peruvian government is trying to build a massive highway development corridor directly through the Maijuna’s ancestral title lands, a tragedy we hope to prevent through years of research proving the importance of this land and the Maijuna’s integral role as caretakers & guardians of the forest.
