@canartfair 2026 con @herrerodetejada , @lott.kk.cancelada , @srger y @maillostudio . 🪺🙏 "Els cignes" was made during my residency at @ccandratx in Mallorca. I was searching for forms with a body-like presence, yet not recognizable, yet "this reminds me of..." . I thought of a membrane, a flower, a genital, a fabric, an animal... specultating all the way through the image. . . . . . Els cignes, 2026. Oil on canvas, 160 x 160 cm.

✨JANUARY CCA OPEN STUDIOS✨ Wednesday, January 28, from 4pm till 7pm. Free Entrance to the exhibitions and artists' studios. Exceptionally, the CCA will interrupt its Winter Closure to introduce you to our January Artists in Residence. Meet our artists this month: NOEMI DURIGHELLO @noemiello Noemi Durighello (1996, Italy) is a visual artist working with painting, collage, and installation. She received a BFA from the Fine Art Academy in Venice (2019) and completed the postgraduate program at HfBK Dresden in 2025. "The motifs, taken from both the real and digital worlds, are transformed into fragments, repetitions, loops, and progressions, and are deconstructed until their meaning is shifted." N.D. LAIA GARCÍA @gin.redder Laia Garcia (b. 1997) is a Catalan artist based in Barcelona. She approaches painting as a “middle ground”, a scenario where worries, wishes, mysteries, and non senses of the human psyche are brought into dialogue through symbolic mechanisms. Archetypes, surroundings, human relationships, and natural cycles are some of the themes that inspire her inner vision. “Painting thrives when it shows what can be seen, so each work is a constant face-to-face with possibility in itself". L.G. GALA KNÖRR @galaknorr Knörr holds a BFA in Fine Arts from Parsons Paris and an MA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins. Her work bridges visual practice and critical inquiry. Primarily pictorial, her practice reflects on the power of images and their influence on collective consciousness. Her oeuvre extends into video, performance, readings, and writing to explore themes related to popular culture and the construction of shared histories. EVIAN WENYI ZHANG @evianwenn Evian Wenyi Zhang (b. 2000, Shanghai) lives and works in Berlin. The artist has had solo exhibitions at Pedro Cera, Lisbon (2025), Chris Sharp Gallery, Los Angeles (2024) and Lulu, Mexico City (2022). Evian Wenyi Zhang’s practice centers on a distinctive grid-based methodology that functions as a critical framework for examining the politics of seeing and the infrastructures that shape contemporary image consumption.

Created for our current exhibition ‘Univers-Bloc’, the work of Laia Garcia (@gin.redder ) unfolds through memory as a navigational tool. Her paintings operate like machines: artefacts with inner circuits, fixed structures and subtle deviations that only reveal themselves through return. What remains in place allows movement, orientation, and the intuition to say: it’s this way, quickly, before it closes. In her practice, painting becomes a way of walking through accumulated experience. Memory is not treated as a faithful record, but as a symbolic reconstruction, a technology that reorganizes meaning rather than reproducing it. Layers of gesture, color and composition coexist without linear order, activating multiple registers at once. Within Univers-Bloc, Garcia opens a new dimension in her imaginary. One where images shift, previous forms give way to others, and painting is driven by a balance between ardor and restraint. The work does not seek resolution. It insists, holds tension, and remains available for another passage. This painting ‘La pintura em desperta’ forms part of our current exhibition ‘Univers-bloc’, in which Laia Garcia ( @gin.redder ) explores cycles and rhythms shared by nature, painting, and personal experience. Emerging from an imagined territory, the series gradually shifts from landscape toward a more introspective and silent space. Within this context, the work occupies a metapictorial position, where painting turns inward and connects with rest, wakefulness, and the moment just before sleep. Rather than representing a place, it evokes a state in which the pictorial gesture slows down and painting becomes a space for listening. Opening: Univers-bloc, a duo exhibition by Laia Garcia and Rita Sala Treig. Thursday, December 11, 19:00–22:00 We are pleased to present an exhibition that closes our 2025 program. After a meaningful period of working with Laia Garcia, this project arrives with a sense of shared momentum. It is also our pleasure to officially welcome Rita Sala Treig to the BETA family. Bringing both artists together at this moment holds particular relevance for us. In Univers-bloc, Laia and Rita open new circuits within their imaginaries: machines that mark the path, landscapes that shift and set traps, figures that move forward by intuition. Their paintings bring together memories and meanings, physical, emotional and symbolic, where colors pulse, textures awaken and the natural world moves toward myth and new beginnings. The decision to pursue a collaboratively shaped body of work gave form to the conceptual strength of their dialogue. Developed as a unified proposition, it reflects a conversation whose force emerges in the balance between their two distinct approaches. We look forward to welcoming you to the opening on December 11 at the gallery. Preview and catalogue available via DM or at [email protected].
