hello! 👋 something a lil different ...
as fully-freelance life is now approaching at lightning pace, i thought this would be a good opportunity to 'reintroduce' myself! my name is gi and i'm a musician based in NW london, currently transitioning from juggling corporate life with gigs - to embracing freelance life with open arms. i was classically trained at @rwcmd and have been blessed with a busy gigging life in london for the past two years... & long may it continue!
i often find that clients & colleagues don't realise that i am both an acoustic & electric cellist, i also write for strings, i sing, play a little bass guitar AND have my own remote recording setup!
beyond the usual wedding/function gigs (which i always love too) i've had the immense pleasure of joining artists & bands on several iconic stages including @royalalberthall@bbcradio1 live lounge @troxylondon@greenmanfest to name a few 🎵🫶🏼

wasn't planning on doing a post for my birthday but facebook (kindly) reminded me of the photo on slide 2 & you'll know i love to get reflective haha
the second photo is six years ago, celebrating my 19th birthday in lockdown at home with my mum, and with my best friend visiting at the end of my driveway. i remember this point in the pandemic as being a bit of a 'honeymoon period' enjoying the time at home together, but realistically i wasn't even halfway through my first year at conservatoire, i barely felt like i'd gotten started, and times were very uncertain ...
life looks VERY different since then - we've now got a whole degree, we moved to london, we worked with one of the world's most prestigious orchestras for two years, london life treats us well & we're newly freelance, having already ticked off many incredible experiences, venues, studios & more!
i'd be lying if i said freelancing hasn't been daunting at times so far, but from the kindness of others around me, i know i'm not alone in that feeling at least. and when looking at these photos side-by-side, i'm reminded just how much there is to be grateful for already 🥲 here's to another beautiful year of music! x #25thbirthday #reflecting #sixyearslater #londonmusician #cellistsofinstagram

for @siennaspiro recent performance on @thejonathanrossshowofficial she had a 12-piece string section performing her single 'the visitor' from memory - here's how i went about achieving that :)
i often perform off-score for both gigs & sessions, so if you ever think 'classical musician = must need sheet music' for your project... this isn't always the case!
