『Shari』 63min / 2021 / Creative documentary 2020年の冬、流氷も雪も少ないという異常気象のなか、北海道・知床半島の斜里町で、不思議な出来事が次々と起こる。羊飼いのパン屋、鹿を狩る夫婦、海のゴミを拾う漁師などの人々が住むこの地に、突然毛むくじゃらで熱々の「赤いモノ」が現れ、土地の子供たちに相撲を挑む――。自然と人間、動物のせめぎ合いを描いた、斜里町で実際に起きた摩訶不思議なほんとのはなし。 In the winter of 2020, amidst unusual weather with little snow and no drift ice, strange events begin to unfold in Shari, a town on the Shiretoko Peninsula in Hokkaido. In this land where people like a bread-baking shepherd, a deer-hunting couple, and a fisherman who picks up trash from the sea live close to nature, a hot, hairy “Red Thing” suddenly appears and challenges the local children to sumo matches. Masayume (Nao Yoshigai, 2026, 110min) Nao YOSHIGAI, who lost her mental and physical balance at 34, starts training at a Zen temple. Through Zen, she reexamines “eating,” “sleeping,” and “breathing,” viewing her body and mind as a “bag of flesh.” Inspired by Michizo Noguchi, founder of Noguchi Taiso (movement method), she sees the body as a skin bag of fluid—free to expand and contract—where bones, organs, and the brain float. — @parallaxfilms_sales before everything has a name (An-li dīng, 2026, 17min) This film draws its imagery from a series of hand-processed 35mm film stills, featuring textures with specific qualities collected by the artist during her travels through various natural environments. These images are then meticulously layered through slow dissolves in post-production, seeking to activate the image’s immanent potential to generate the indeterminate sensations. “Before everything has a name” is not an imagination of the past or future, but a perceptual mode and state of existence that can be experienced in the present moment - something that may arrive at any time, yet cannot be summoned by will. Punto de Vista国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭で『まさゆめ』が上映されるので、スペインに行ってきました。このご時世に、渡航できるようにサポートしてくださり、ありがたい限りです。 今年で20年目というこの映画祭、ドキュメンタリーを集めてはいますが、現実に起きていること、監督自身の身に起きていることをテーマにしながらも、それらをパズルのピースとして一度ぐちゃぐちゃに解体して、映像というキャンバスの上で、もう一度まっさらな気持ちで抽象画やドローイングを描いてみる、ような、そういう映画が多く上映されているように見えました。もちろん、抽象性だけが際立っているのではなく、物語も感じます。最近はそのような映画を、クリエイティブ・ドキュメンタリーと呼ぶらしい。 帰国した直後に『まさゆめ』が特別審査員賞を受賞したとのメールをいただきました。とてもうれしく、ありがたいです。Gracias! ４月だというのに30度近くあるパンプローナも、やはり異常気象の春のようです。 あたたかいと、つい気持ちがゆるんでしまい、あれも食べたい、これも欲しいという欲望を抑えるのに苦労しました。 パンプローナの市街地から少し離れた山のてっぺんにある、地元出身の現代彫刻家のコレクションが収蔵されている美術館、Museum Oteizaにも行きました。行くのはまあまあ大変なのですが、このような僻地に、たった1人の作家だけのコレクションを集めた美術館というのは趣深いことを過去の経験から知っていたので、足を伸ばして行きました。建物自体が彫刻みたいで面白かったのは言わずもがな、個人的には、まだ作品になる前の手のひらサイズの習作にすごく惹かれてしまいました。ドローイング彫刻とでも名付けたらいいのか。民藝らしさもあり、とても美しい。 空港のあるバルセロナにも一泊し、ちょうどその日はサン・ジョルディを祝う日で、町中にバラと本の屋台が出ていて、みーんな、バラを数本買って、家に持ち帰っていました。あんなにみんなが買っていたら、何を祝っているのか知らなくてもついわたしも買ってしまいたくなります。 ここで、ふと目に止まったのが、可愛らしい月と星の絵本で、「なにこれかわいい！」とページをめくると、中国哲学「陰陽」の概念をテーマにした絵本でした。簡単にできる体操なんかも書いてあって、絵本として楽しみながら、心身哲学とエクササイズを学べるみたいです。作家さん自身が店に立っていたので色々聞いたのですが、カタルーニャ語を話す女性が、自費出版で制作している絵本のようでした。一年に一回絵本を出していて、これは2冊目だそう。 ああ、やっぱり惹かれるものに引かれるのだなと、表紙だけでこのような内容の絵本を引き当ててしまったことに、自分のカルマを感じずにはいられません。この本以外にも、ヨガをテーマにした絵本もあり、どちらを買うか店の真ん前で30分ほど悩んだのちに、屋台に帰ってきた作家さんの家族に、どっちの本が好きか聞いて、その時私が持っていた本を指差されたので、そっちを買うことにしました。（わたしが持っていた方を指差しただけなんじゃないか、という気もしたけど、まあいいでしょう。） ふと見上げると、空には半月がくっきり出ていました。わたしの場合、なんとなく、ふと夜空を見上げると半月であることが多い。おお、またか。という気持ちにもなるし、空からGO（それでいいんじゃないか）と言われてる気持ちになります。 絵本作家さんは、1ページ目に、直筆で素敵なメッセージを書き込んでくれました。 Gràcies!!!
