Georgi from @georgimakes will be with us this June,
“Georgi’s tableware, inspired by contour lines on Ordnance Survey Maps, balances playfulness with functionality. She uses clay bodies that echo the Devon landscape from rich peat soils of Dartmoor to the iron-red cliffs of the Devon coastline. She has developed her own range of glazes to evoke horizons and shifting landscapes, using colours drawn directly from the surrounding countryside. All work is fired to stoneware in electric kilns, producing durable, everyday objects rooted in place and process.”

Busy week getting ceramics prepared and ready for glazing. A joy to have the window open and hear the chatter in the courtyard from @canteentotnes and see the bunting flapping in sunny beams of light.

Close up!
There are parts of the glaze that just work for me. Where it meets the edge of the clay or interacts with another glaze or sometimes the layering of the same colour giving texture. It’s the joy and heartache of opening a glaze kiln. The dopamine hit when it works is one of the reasons I keep doing the work.
I’m loving this mustard yellow and how it fits with the soft teal, oily blue and greens.
These will be on much of my work showing in the next couple of months
