My most epic piece yet!!! I think I was a bit crazed when I decided to do this, inspired by this amazing board reclaimed from Brighton Palace Pier and having just set up for an open house last week and seeing a spot that needed something in it, I jumped in despite being knackered. Doing a panel in a piece of wood like this without straight edges is full of challenges and I had some broken pieces along the way to testify to that. I needed to solder in the frame to ensure it fit, it took 2 whole rolls of solder, that's 2 lb, but I did it and I love the result. I've been dying to use the pink glass that's the clouds in this piece and I think they make it. I would love to hear what people think, it's a big risk doing large pieces but I always want to be pushing myself. This will be on show and on sale at our open house @art_house_by_the_postbox

A sneak peak at what I'm working on to add to our open house this weekend. Frame almost ready and glass all cut and cleaned. It's time for an epic foiling session. This is my biggest piece yet, but I couldn't resist using this board reclaimed from Brighton Palace Pier. It was already split most of the way so I encouraged it with my axe and a hammer πŸ™‚ and now using that split as the edges of the frame. The join at the top and the stand are made using reclaimed oak also from @wood_store_brighton and this piece will be freestanding, ideally somewhere where the light can shine through it. I'm really excited about the choice of glass, the blue I used for the sky is stunning when it's casting its colour on the floor and I've been dying to use this whispy pink which looks like rose quartz and makes beautiful sunset clouds.

I'm thrilled to say this piece has found it's home as an anniversary gift. I'm so happy with the response I've had to this creation and excited to find more unique and beautiful pieces of wood to add glass to in the hope they will be as well liked. Thank you again to the brilliant folk at @wood_store_brighton for preserving these treasures so we can make wonderful things with them and @art_house_by_the_postbox for hosting our open house where it got to be seen by art lovers. β™₯️β™₯️ Sorry to those who won't get to see it in the upcoming open house weekends. I'm trying to finish another unique piece to share in the next week or 2. πŸ™‚

Today's reveal is this garden piece set in reclaimed cedar which was once part of a council fence in Brighton and has weathered down to this amazing shape. Thank you to Robbin @wood_store_brighton who put me on to this lovely piece of wood, I was worried about doing it justice but having taken out the apertures and added in these leaf inspired designs I think it came out lovely. I treated this with some clear UV resistant oil and it was thirsty!!! The colour change with some oil was dramatic. I think it will last decades longer now and I hope it gets a new lease of life as art in someone's garden soon. πŸ™‚ This will be for sale at an open house in May to see in real life. @art_house_by_the_postbox

Today I'm framing these small sun spray panels with wood reclaimed from stage flooring at Glyndebourne Opera House thanks to @wood_store_brighton . I am leaving the marks on the black paint because I love the history in them, these boards were used for a production of Beatrice & Benedict according to the labels I found on them. I've made 8 panels with the same colours but arranged differently in each. I hope these are popular at our open house in May, where they will be on sale at Β£50 each in their frames. Details of the open house are on the last slide πŸ™‚

How many clamps do you have? Not enough 🀣 It's never enough, but I'm excited to be getting these pieces glued up ready for a final sand and finish. These will be garden ornaments on show at our upcoming open house @art_house_by_the_postbox

It's really happening, my art going up next to other artists, these are paintings by the brilliant @shannicollinsart who is hosting our open house in May. It's my first open house and it's exciting to be sharing my art alongside other amazing artists, can't wait. I think these backlit stained glass pieces look great next to them and on this wall which contrasts the wood. I don't normally have pictures of me on here but I look pretty happy 😊

I finished framing up these linear abstracts. I always enjoy the way a frame enhances a panel. These are framed with a piece of reclaimed hardwood and reclaimed stage floor from Glyndebourne Opera house, both sourced from @wood_store_brighton

I'm excited to finally share these pieces after weeks of working on them. I started with a log which I spilt and worked in to 2 delicate frames following the live edge of the wood. I was taken with the idea of long backlit stained glass panels and drew up these 2 designs inspired by water and leaves. I love how they came out though as always after a long project I have a lot of lessons learned 😊. I'm hoping we can show these at the upcoming open house though they look best once the sun has gone down. @art_house_by_the_postbox

I thought this panel would look lovely in a wooden stand, I made this one from a section of branch with a clear wax finish. It's intentionally organic to play off the harder lines of the glass border, I didn't want it to be boxy. As with most of my work, it's a one off and won't be repeated with the same colours or stand except by some incredible fluke πŸ™‚. I plan to display this along with other work at the upcoming 5 ways open house in May. Come have a look if you're around. @art_house_by_the_postbox

I put this sunset landscape on a glass stand and think it came out great. I know it can be hard to imagine how to put a stained glass piece in a home with needing to hang it where it gets light. Sometimes it's easier to sit a piece on a windowsill or near a window. I hope someone likes it enough to give it a home πŸ™‚
